We have several guests who have served as personal caregivers to family members and have learned valuable tips for others anticipating this position.
Lorraine McCall, has been a primary caregiver to her dad for nearly 5 years. What has she learned and what can she share with us to offer assistance? Has it been easy, fulfilling, difficult, worth it?? What lessons has she learned?
Marlo Oliver-Glass, a caregiver to her husband who was diagnosed as a terminally ill patient. What was that experience like? What lessons did she learn along the path to his full recovery? Was it difficult?
Joyce Mottley, who has developed a plan to offer care to the caregivers, has been a healing balm to many as they go through their illnesses. A survivor herself, how important is it to take of one's self first?
These ladies offer advice, suggestions and perhaps most important they offer care in various forms. A new energy facility, a community initiative and a complete program for the caregiver.

Washington, D.C. has many exceptional vocalist, join me this evening when I interview one of them, Heidi Martin. She is a vocalist and composer who is a native Washingtonian. Also, trumpeter Russell Gunn who grew up in East St. Louis, Illinois will join us. Heidi Martin and Russell Gunn will perform together at Bohemian Caverns this weekend. Heidi studied at the University of the District of Columbia with Professor Calvin Jones. In addition, she took private lessons with drummer/vocalist Grady Tate. Since that time she has performed in New York often and around the world. Russell Gunn has had a Grammy nominated recording, Ethnomusicology vol. 1. In 1999, Oliver Lake saw him performing in St. Louis and invited him to perform in New York. Next, he was heard by Denis Jeter, an assistant to Wynton Marsalis at Lincoln Center, who recommended him for the third trumpet chair in Marsalis' Blood on the Fields. After receiving rave notices for his performances, he began to earn recognition. As a result, he has many recordings and has traveled all over the world playing jazz music. Jazz lives at Jazz Notes!
He adopted the stage name Prodigal Son and dropped his underground debut CD Crossing the Red Sea in 2003. Shortly after, he released his follow-up album My Block. By the time his third album Kingdom Swagga-nomics hit, he had secured a distribution deal with a regional company and charted at the Number 21 spot on Billboard. The following year, he came back with compilation CD Welcome to HOLY-wood, debuting at Number 25.
Even with Billboard charts and Grammy nominations, Prodigal Son has been constantly criticized by the Christian community for his realistic lyrical content. His album Deeper Than Church was nominated for two Grammys for Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song for the albums self-titled lead single.
The Prodigal Son returned back to the gospel hip hop music and the culture while securing a new recording deal under TYSCOT RECORDS/WARNER MUSIC GROUP.
Prodigal Son released of his new E.P. #Grace from his own label, with a follow up album due late 2014 entitled #HOMECOMING.
