Occupy Wall Street has been buying Consumer Student Loans and paying them off

    in Entertainment

After forgiving millions of dollars in medical debt, Occupy Wall Street is tackling a new beast: student loans.
Marking the third anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street movement, the group's Strike Debt initiative announced Wednesday it has abolished $3.8 million worth of private student loan debt since January. It said it has been buying the debts for pennies on the dollar from debt collectors, and then simply forgiving that money rather than trying to collect it.
In total, the group spent a little more than $100,000 to purchase the $3.8 million in debt.

Wealth Creation & Preservation: Jordan Belfort - "The Real Wolf Of Wall Street"

    in Education

Today's broadcast will the be airing of a presentation to the Virgin Atlantic Airlines team of staff and employees in Australia by "The Real Wolf Of Wall Street", Jordan Belfort.

He is the actual person that the Leonardi Dicaprio character was depicting in the movie.  He is a very compelling speaker and his story is very illuminating about what brings both success and happinees and depression and failure.  Of course, we air a piece because of how well it illustrates that others (non-Muslims) succeed by applying (unbeknowst to them) Islamic principles, standards and values. Our aim is to encourage Muslims to deepen their conviction to their beliefs and put them to work to create and preserve wealth.

WARNING; There is some profanity in his address but honestly nothing that we haven't heard before. It's not our language but he's not a Muslim either.

  • Occupy Wall Street has been buying Consumer Student Loans and paying them off

    in Entertainment

Occupy Wall Street has been on a debt-abolishing tear lately -- recently buying nearly $4 million in student loans from debt collectors and then forgiving it.
Now thousands of people across the country are begging them to forgive their loans, too.
Charlene Ingram is one of them.
A single mother of four from St. Louis, Ingram is 41 and has $125,000 in student loan debt.
After struggling for years to find a job that paid more than minimum wage, she enrolled in an undergraduate program at age 37 -- figuring a bachelor's degree would be her only shot at earning enough to support her family. While she was in school, she and her sons delivered phone books in order to put food on the table.

Author Michael Sears discusses his books and Wall Street experience LIVE

    in Books

"BLACK FRIDAYS is not an autobiographical novel, but the world of Wall Street is one I know well, having worked there for over twenty years. I was a Managing Director in the bond trading and underwriting divisions of Paine Webber, and later, Jefferies & Co. Like my character, Jason Stafford, I was the first from my class at Columbia Business School to become a Managing Director. Before returning to graduate school, I supported myself in a variety of ways while pursuing a career as a professional actor working with the Shakespeare Theatre of Washington, the New Jersey Shakespeare Festival as well as in films and on television."   Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcomes highly award-author Michael Sears to the studio.  For more on Michael, please visit his website at http://www.michaelsears.com/.

Any Good Guys On Wall Street?

    in Education

Are there any good guys on Wall Street or are they all bad guys? Individual Investors and Retail Traders often hear about the bad things that happen on Wall Street with corrupt banks, scams, insider trading, and scandals. Is the Financial Services Industry the most corrupt industry in the United States, or is this just how Main Street views Wall Street? Martha Stokes CMT talks frankly and candidly about what is Wall Street, why there seems to be so much corruption, and whether there are any good guys left.
