First up is Lindsay Babb with Hard Charge. They are a new obstacle race with two very unique twists. First, they are bringing their events to parts no one really has before in North Dakota, Iowa, and Kansas. Second, they have a deal with local tv stations to air the elite heats. They will be exciting to watch over the coming months.
Next, you will hear a phone conversation I had with Ian Sharman. If you are a fan of ultras, you know that Ian ran one of the fastest 100 milers ever back in 2011. Ian was in Nicaragua but had to pull out of the race due to injury. However, he did RD and run the first Fuego y Agua Beer Mile. As it turns out, he is also a fan of OCR and plans to run an obstacle race in 2013. We talked about how ultra runners and obstacle racers are equally nuts and have more in common than they think. I also asked him about the record he holds in fastest marathon dressed as Elvis.
Brett Stewart has written several fitness books. He joins us to discuss his new book Ultimate Obstacle Race Training. He has also been pegged to be a contributor to the new Obstacle Race Magazine coming out later this year. Let’s find out what the newbie and veteran mud runner can learn from this book.
I will also be speaking with Mahk and Alysha from Wicked Muddy. If you don’t know why I would spell Mark that way or why someone would use the phrase "wicked muddy", then you have never been to New England. Launching back in 2010, this group of mud maniacs were ahead of the curve in setting up a local group. Let’s find out what they have been up to and what their plans are.
I also will be doing a race recap about Rogue Runner Georgia and may be able to get the race director on the line if time permits.
Episode 21-De Badass Athlètes Féminines Canadiennes
Monday, October 22, 2012 8:30pm EST
This week’s episode brings us 3 athletes with a lot in common.
They are all female, they all live in Canada, they all speak multiple languages, and chances are, they have flown past you on a recent obstacle course, marathon, or mud run.
Leyla Ester Di Cori lives in Ottawa. As a young woman she competed internationally as a fencer. Since June of last year she has been racing like a mad woman and almost always placing in the top 3 of her age group. She just won the NY Merrell Down and Dirty along with running a marathon and 2 halves in the last month. Let’s talk to her and see if we can get her to curse me out in French.
Claude Godbout is a Canadian biathlete. She has competed in Spartan events in 3 countries. She has won every Spartan race that she has entered in 2012. This includes the recent Beast and Ultra Beast in Vermont a few weeks ago. Let’s find out why she should be feared with or without a rifle in her hands.
Ekaterina “Solo” Solovieva is a Siberian born (no wonder she is so tough) and Canadian trained obstacle racer. Along with tearing up the obstacle race circuit, she is also a boot camp instructor, yoga teacher, and psychology professor. Mere mortals would want to conquer just one of those jobs and be happy.
Another great episode awaits so swing over to Tim Horton’s, grab a coffee and doughnut and join us.
Episode 40 Fuego y Agua 2013 Part II (Fuego My Eggo)
The last of the Nica interviews.
The legend of Johnny Waite has been growing in the endurance event scene for a while. I was really excited to finally meet him. He would later make me laugh harder than anyone all week.
Eddie Yanick, Jason Henline and Justin Gavin had never done a Death Race or any endurance event. They were the first Survival participants I would find Sunday morning so we talked shortly after breakfast.
Melody "Tiger" Hazi was the only multi female multi Death Race/Suck finisher so I wanted her insight into the event.
Eric Orton taught Chris McDougall to run with proper form. All Chris did then was go down to Mexico with Eric and some others, write "Born to Run" and change the culture of running forever. Eric was hangin in Nica all week and I got to chat (and run!) with him.
Episode 22 The Survival Run

Andy from Rogue Runner makes an appearance to discuss what worked and what didn’t about their first event last weekend in Virginia and what we can look forward to for their Georgia event happening Nov 3.

America is failing because the people most capable of success are buying into media fearmongering. Media fearmongering is designed to keep people divided by race in America. Media fearmongering keeps people dependent on the status quo in financial matters. Media fearmongering result in people being fearful of risking the production of results to be the best we can be. Workers know their value based on performance deserves more wages than being paid, but media keep workers thinking if they dare to be bold they'll be out on the street jobless. Entrepreneurs recognize needs they can capitalize on financially, but media convinces entrepreneurs to not take risk in this economoy. Job seekers realize they are capable of doing or being training on the job to fill many positions, yet media convinces job seekers that business owners have no need for their out dated skills.Time America shut off media mouths and pick up techniques in productivity, praise and politics and work toward a pleasurable retirement.
