Tonight President Obama will deliver his State of the Union Address. "President Obama plans to sign an executive order requiring that janitors, construction workers and others working for federal contractors be paid at least $10.10 an hour, using his own power to enact a more limited version of a policy that he has yet to push through Congress."
“You can be sure that the president fully intends to use his executive authority to use the unique powers of the office to make progress on economic opportunity, to make progress in the areas that he believes are so important to further economic growth and further job creation,” Jay Carney, the White House press secretary, told reporters on Monday.
Republicans dismissed the notion that Mr. Obama should give up on Congress and rely on his own power more. “Ronald Reagan didn’t think that, and Bill Clinton didn’t think that,” Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Republican leader, said on “Fox News Sunday” over the weekend. “Frequently, times of divided government are quite good times in terms of achieving things for the American people.” Except President Obama has used executive order less than the 5 previous Presidents!

In the 1st Segment "Family First" With the Topic being~"I'm Not My Childrens Friend" This week on the Show we look at the relationships between"TODAYS" new age parents, their children and the possibly border crossing position between Parent and Friend.
In the 2nd Segment "State of Our Union" With the Topic being~"Who Removed God" We look at the question of How And Why has God been so blatently omitted from the anals of Americas Modern day history and the possibly negative impact it's had on our Lives, Liberties and our Country.
In the 3rd Segment "Behind Closed Doors" With the Topic being~"The Definition of My Other Half" We examine what the ideal Man or Woman would or should be to one another, and what it takes to live up to that description or if can actually ever be attained.
We're neither lickspittles nor hate spewers...but hey, we still analyze. Join us for the two usual suspects picking and poking the President's State of the Union and our MA Gov. Deval Patrick's State of the Commonwealth version. We'll provide our assessments of how each of these two good friends were in terms of realism and who gave the best show (or at least had the best writer).
Then in the spirit of the Super Bowl lead-up week, we'll discuss how likely each will be to achieve his stated state-of goals.
In Segment# 1 Family First: Topic: Not just a “BABY DADDY” We are all familiar with the term “Just a Baby Daddy”, but what does it really mean and does it actually shine a negative light on the American male today, especially the African American and Latino males.
In Segment# 2 State Of Our Union: Topic: "The Sensitizing of America" We look at The Super Power, The Land of the Free, The Land of Opportunity, The land where nothing is no-longer sacred And where the idea of FREEDOM OF SPEECH is selective in its use.
In Segment# 3 Behind Closed Doors: Topic: "She’s JUST my friend..." We look at The Myth of Men and Women not able to be nothing more than friends is a controversial hot bed. But as we do here at On Point... we're going to change the lens and look at it with a slightly different perspective…
On the Wednesday January 29, 2014 episode of Liberal Dan Radio:
A recap of the State of the Union address. What was good? What was bad? How many GOP responses did they have and did they bring any discussion worthy of merit to the table?
Also, what was called the "sneauxpocalypse" was more like the "neauxpocalypse" (at least in New Orleans). I will talk about how the south is embarassingly incompetent in dealing with winter weather and why we should reconsider private control of our entergy infrastructure.
All that, tweet of the week, words of redneck wisdom, headlines and more tonight on Liberal Dan Radio: Talk From The Left, That's Right!
If you want to discuss the topics of the show after the live broadcast you can always go to liberaldan.com.
We discuss the shelling of Kent State laid on by Ohio State, breaking down everything that went right for the Buckeyes, including the excellent performance by J.T. Barrett, who threw for six touchdowns. We also discuss some of the youth movement as we saw plenty of young talent taking the field in the second half.
Hey there Tea Sippers!! It's another edition of Don't Come out of a Bag and I want us to talk for REAL about the state of the union. With all of the hoopla that's going on with the Michael Brown case in Ferguson, MS I am compelled to ask this question,
Are we in CIVIL WAR or CIVIL UNREST?
We've been talking about the increased amounts of police brutality and here we are in a state of confusion where The National Guards are on the streets, tear gas, rubber bullets, and dogs are being used to control the people and the pictures are looking identical to those from the Civil Rights Movement protests over 40 years ago.
What can we do to reclaim our sense of peace, our rights as citizens to freedom of expression, OUR INDEPENDENCE in this "great" country?
Also, we will pay homage to Robin Williams and talk about depression. When are we as a country going to mental health RELEVANT in our quest for health care in this country. Look at Mr. Andre "Killer Beez" Johnson of Wu Tang Clan, he severed his penis and attempted suicide due to his bout with depression. What can be done to look at mental health serious?
And of course, whatever is on YOUR mind....we can talk about it right HERE... right NOW..... just Don't Come out of a Bag, because if you do, I am coming out of a BIGGER BAG!!
All that and more, so make sure you have lots of crumpets, baby because we've got a HOT POT of Tea for your nerve, darlings.
