Asset protection planning is all about taking chips off the table in good times, so that you still can walk away from the table a winner no matter what happens in bad times. Those who worry the most about asset protection are those who are the most likely to get sued, but average folks often get caught up in difficult situations, and thus if you have something to protect then the topic of asset protection should at least cross your mind.
Join Bill and Rick to discuss exactly when and how you can best maximize your protection against unwanted creditors and lawsuits.
Join Southeast Green as we speak with Carol Koury, President of Sow True Seed.
Carol is a life-long gardener, having spent her childhood summers in the 1940s and 50s in New Hampshire helping her grandma and family grow and preserve all the food she and her family ate. She had careers in wildlife conservation and the women's health movement, before coming back to her gardening roots. In 2009 she founded Sow True Seed, an open-pollinated seed company based in Asheville, NC. Sow True sells 500 varieties of open-pollinated vegetable, herb and flower seed in the Southeast and throughout North America. Carol’s passion is for helping people understand where their food comes from so they can be informed consumers.
In 2011 STS joined a consortium of family farmers, small seed companies and advocacy groups to challenge Monsanto's patents on genetically engineered seed and seeking relief for farmers who were being sued when their crops were unintentionally contaminated by upwind GE pollen. We lost at the Federal Appeals level for lack of standing because none of us had been sued by Monsanto - but the Appeals Court did indicate concern about Monsanto's lawsuits and giving hope that farmer's seeking relief through the court system might have a more sympathetic ear (should they be able to afford going up against Monsanto)!.
Tom, Tony and Rich break down the "slight of the century" between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather last Saturday. The bout was a dud, and Pac-Man might be in hot water due to failing to disclose a shoulder injury. Tom and Rich also discuss UFC Fight Night: Miocic vs. Hunt, which is in Australia this Sunday. These two heavyweights will be slugging it out for relevance and a chance to make a title run in the stacked heavyweight division. Hunt will be heavily favored by the crowd, as he resides and grew up in the region. Miocic is a fight built for durability and going the distance against other stikers like Hunt. We will also talk about the upcoming week's boxing schedule, including a couple former guests appearing in headlining bouts across the United States.
We recap the middle game of the 3-game series between the Tigers and Chicago White Sox. Alfredo Simon was scheduled to start on the pitcher's mound against Chris Sale. Their offense really needs to pick up some steam.
The Grand Rapids Griffins take a 1-0 series lead over the Rockford Ice Hogs with a 5-3 win at Van Andel Arena. Teemu Pulkkinen scored a hat trick.
I allow my co-host Ed Smith himself share his thoughts on the Floyd mayweather/Manny Pacquiao boxing fight last Saturday. Mayweather offers Pacquiao a rematch for next year.
Mayweather was sued for $20 million by his mother of his 3 children in defamation lawsuit yesterday.
