Natalie Christine Johnson is one of Hollywood South’s most in-demand makeup artists. With a background in Psychology and a degree in fine arts from the University of New Orleans, Johnson began her career with M.A.C. because a fellow makeup artist happened to like the way she did her makeup when she happened upon her while working in a mall. Natalie used any kind of canvas she could get her hands on and realized that a face was just another medium. She quickly made the move into film and television. With almost 50 productions under her belt in the past 3 years, Johnson has worked on everything from big budget feature films such as the widely popular Left Behind series with Nicolas Cage, to music videos, network and reality TV, and the Sundance darling Sex, Guaranteed where she met and worked with Stephen Dorff. After working together on that project he later asked her to be his personal makeup artist for their next project together, The American Hero. Her commercial work ranges from local universities to clients like McDonald’s, Wal-Mart, Visa and the NFL. Expanding from beauty to special effects makeup, Johnson has worked for the last three years as a makeup department head and creative consultant for the independent and festival award winning production company, Little to N.O. Budget Films. Working closely with the director and writers, her vision helped develop worlds of zombies, ghosts, and surreal carnivals. She recently worked on the projects Abattoir and Cold Moon. Every time I hear a parent brag that her child is her best friend, I cringe and think, “Well, that’s too bad.” The job description of parent is mighty long—nurturer, teacher, advisor, consultant, guide, spotter, disciplinarian, consoler, cheerleader. But I am quite sure “friend” is not on the list. I fully believe that you really like your child, that there are times when you get along like peas and carrots, that you say you can read each other’s minds. But your child, whether young or old, needs you to be her parent. She has enough friends, and so do you. I know that you don’t get to spend much time with your child; both of your schedules are packed 24/7. So you want what little time you have together to be pleasant. I know it’s just easier to say yes, and everyone will be happy…for the moment.
Children are not like self-basting turkeys; they just can’t grow themselves. Children will seek all the good stuff they can get—be it extra tv time, cookies from the platter, or minutes at the mall. And they count on you to stop them, to rein them back in. It is their job to test the limits; it is your job to stop them. And as children get older, more than ever they rely on you to be their brakes, especially when faced with peer pressure. “No, my dad will kill me if I get home after curfew.” Your child needs to know that you love her so much that you will tolerate her explosive protest when you lay down the law and you will not change your mind because of it. Nothing can be more important to you than her well being, her safety, and her learning the rules of the road.

Listen in live as Dr. Leonard Robinson presents God's word concerning His Kingdom and righteousness. This installment of The Forbidden Fruit was inspired by our last show. One caller believed that through his spirituality and tapping into his inner connection with his higher power or God, he was able to avoid immediate danger from an approaching tornado. This belief system isn't exclusive to this caller. Many believers in religion feel that they have special advantages and God's Favor over non believers. This is what we want to focus on during this installment. Is there any proof to this belief? Can anyone prove that being religious and believing in an invisible man in the sky afford you real tangible advantages? Is this just a form of arrogance? Why would you think your God would bless you with a new house, or a new car, and even a prime parking space at the mall to park that new car in, while the basic necessities of life are being withheld from the least of these? Why do you claim to be special? Why would you want to serve a God or a higher force that would care more about the outcome of a boxing match than a starving baby somewhere in the world?
Let's talk about it here on The Fruit!

Emerson McBride is a normal American teenager. She goes to school, plays soccer, and roams the mall with friends. Her life is just like any other 14-year-old’s until she is sent to clean the attic in the old Victorian as punishment for fighting with her younger brother.
Suddenly, she is thrown back in time to a totally foreign world. Frightened, and armed only with dreams of her grandfather, Emerson ventures into the unknown.
How did she get here? Who are these people? Where is she and why is she here? These questions and many more follow Emerson into a new life in a new land.
Billie J. Ross graduated her cosmetology program in April of 2009 at the top of her class being voted, “most likely to succeed” by her peers. While finishing her studies at Duncanville High School, Mrs. Ross interned at a well-known franchise salon in Dallas, Raw Cuts Salon and Spa. There Mrs. Ross received education and instruction from professionals that cultivated the skills she needed to become an incredible professional. Later Mrs. Ross received her high school diploma in June of 2009, leaving high school with a cosmetologist license, furthered education, and ready to service the world with enthusiasm and confidence. With only a week out of grade school Mrs. Ross was on a mission to succeed.Mrs. Ross joined the Toni&Guy Hairdressing salon team of North Park mall. There she worked and trained for 7 months, encountering hardships and opposition. Being of the Christian faith she knew that only strength would come out of the opposition at hand. It was definitely a challenge, but Ross finished the Creative Cutting Program, which exalted her to the position of an Art Director 1. This was one of the greatest feelings she had felt. Most of the co-workers and educators had counted her out, but tenacity and persistence carried her over the hardships of her career. In January of 2010, Mrs. Ross started her salon business, ExcluShear Salon, with only two clients. Once again she was at yet another hardship in life. Knowing that in her heart this was the right decision to make, she continued marketing her business, and swiftly it started to expand. In 2013, Ross trained for Design Essentials Education Team. After many hours and days of training, Ross passed her courses and is now apart of The Design Essentials Education Team. Starting ExcluShear Salon was one of the greatest decisions Mrs. Ross made.
