“The Meeting” takes place in a Harlem hotel in 1965 and is symbolic in its depiction of a hypothetical meeting between two of the most important men of modern times, Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Factual words spoken by each have been woven into the dialogue. Differing in their philosophies, but alike in their mutual respect, the men debate their varying approaches to the same grave social problems.
Stetson’s stage play credits include: "Keep the Faith: A musical on the life and times of Adam Clayton Powell, Jr.", "Fraternity," “And the Men Shall Also Gather," and "To Play a Black Man;" to name a few. “The Meeting” has been produced in all fifty states and more than a dozen countries. It received eight N.A.A.C.P. Image Awards, including best play and best writer, as well as an Ohio State Achievement Award.
