Kathryn Kemp Guylay is a certified nutritional counselor with a master's degree in business and a successful career as a management consultant. David Turner brings an extensive knowledge of the NFL to the table after spending 8 years working in the League. He worked for the Miami Dolphins as well as the New York Giants, under mentors like Rick Spielman, George Payton, and Dave Gettleman.
From 2005-2010 Mr. Turner worked for the Oakland Raiders in several different positions including; Scouting Assistant, Area Scout, and Assistant Director of Pro Personnel. Working under Hall of Famer Al Davis. Additionally, Mr. Turner spent time at the San Francisco 49ers, as a consultant under Tom Gamble.
Outside of the NFL Mr. Turner spent two seasons with the Hartford Colonials of the UFL as the Director of Player Personnel. Currently, Mr. Turner is beginning his fourth season with the World Champion Arizona Rattlers, who in his first three seasons won three straight Arena League Titles. He held the position of Player Personnel Director in his first three years with the organization and now has been elevated to Assistant General Manager.

Joining us to discuss this topic is Ryan Whitcomb, RD, CDN, CLT, a Registered Dietitian who uses an Integrative and Functional Medicine approach towards optimizing health. He is the owner of GUT RXN Nutrition, a virtual private practice where he specializes in treating individuals with food sensitivities related to chronic inflammation.
Ryan received his undergraduate training in Communications from Ithaca College before becoming a dietitian. He did his didactic program in dietetics at Queens College in Flushing, NY and completed his internship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX (now Baylor Scott & White). He is currently working on his master’s in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine at the University of Western States in Portland, OR.
Ryan is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as well as the state and local chapters. He is on the Executive Committee serving as the Volunteer Chair of Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine, a dietetic practice group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Originally from Long Island, Ryan recently made the move to Jersey City, NJ, something he swore he’d never do!
Nutritional Health and ---------Anorexia Nervosa : Dealing with Root Causes
A person with anorexia usually:
Has an intense fear of gaining weight or becoming fat, even when underweight
Refuses to keep weight at what is considered normal for their age and height (15% or more below the normal weight)
Have a body image that is very distorted, be very focused on body weight or shape, and refuse to admit the danger of weight loss
People with anorexia may severely limit the amount of food they eat. Or they eat and then make themselves throw up. Other behaviors include:
Cutting food into small pieces or moving them around the plate instead of eating
Exercising all the time, even when the weather is bad, they are hurt, or their schedule is busy
Going to the bathroom right after meals
Refusing to eat around other people
Using pills to make themselves urinate (water pills or diuretics), have a bowel movement (enemas and laxatives), or decrease their appetite (diet pills)

Melanie, MS, RDN, CSP, LDN, came to All Children’s Hospital Johns Hopkins in the late 1980s as a student. She graduated from the University of Florida and began employment right after college. She earned her master’s degree from Kansas State in 2012 and is currently enrolled at Rutgers working on her doctorate of clinical nutrition.
Melanie has over 20 years of experience working with families to achieve better health. She joined Fit4Allkids in 2006 and loves teaching families about healthy foods and nutrition.
Melanie lives in South Tampa and is a mom to two kids. She thinks the best thing about the Tampa Bay area is that there’s something for everyone. The beaches are her favorite. Since she grew up in St. Petersburg, however, she enjoys seeing the revitalization of the downtown area.
