According to the, American Association of Colleges of Nurses, employment for Nurses will increase significantly over the next few years in comparison to most occupations.
Nursing is the nation's largest health care profession, totaling over 3.1 million RN's across the US. Regardless of the fields current status, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that employment for RN's will grow faster than many other jobs through 2018.
Being a Nurse is a very rewarding profession that offers various job placement opportunities, but it takes hard work and perseverance. In 2011, a national study revealed that the acceptance rate for nursing schools across the country was approximately 39.5%. So to make sure you are included in that percentage, we are speaking with Dr. Kathleen Potempa, Dean and Professor at the University of Michigan School of Nursing, for her expert advice to help the next generation of students seeking a career as a Nurse. Dr. Potempa has extensive experience within the medical profession including:
32 years’ experience as a scientist, educator, and administrator.
Several notable awards such as the Oregon Medical Research Foundation Mentor Award that she received in 2002, the Distinguished Alumni Award from Rush University in 2003 and being Named one of 2004’s Fifty Great Leaders of Oregon by Business magazine amongst others
Dr. Potempa has dedicated much research towards health within physically impaired populations in conjunction with her community-based research to improve health behavior.
Today we have the pleasure of speaking with Nurse Emma Soy. Nurse Soy has her Bachelors of Science in nursing as well as her Master’s degree. As a graduate of North Park University and Liberty University, she carries 25 years of experience as a nurse. She began her career working in pediatrics and then began to expand her knowledge with various positions in the nursing field. After being exposed to different experiences, she became an advocate for patient care initiatives. She used her passion to provide top quality patient care and motivation to help fellow nurses develop more skills, Emma then began to focus on becoming a nursing career coach. Although she was able to observe her patient’s health status improve, she gained much appreciation getting the opportunity to witness her fellow nurses improve on their clinical knowledge as well as develop better techniques so that they could become better nurses.

The TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, from 1-2 pm ET (10-11 am PT).
Last week we talked about how HR drives positive workforce impact with the right data insights, and this week we’re going to talk about why recruiting is a legitimate career choice.
Recruiting has mostly been the accidental career choice. Professionals from varied backgrounds but with a unifying theme of marketing, sales and investigative technical savvy are the ones who’ve fallen into being recruiters and sourcers.
However, unlike HR, formal education is still lacking for recruiters and sourcers. It’s largely ignored and dismissed by academia, and yet there’s a growing need for comprehensive corporate recruitment training programs.
Recruiting is and should be a legitimate career choice and today there are organizations like the Sourcing Institute Foundation driving that change.
Join TalentCulture #TChat Show co-founders and co-hosts Meghan M. Biro and Kevin W. Grossman as they talk about why recruiting is a legitimate career choice with this week’s guest: Shally Steckerl, founder of the Sourcing Institute Foundation and a pioneer in talent sourcing and recruiting.
Thank you to all our TalentCulture sponsors, partners and supporters!
Commit to God, change your life. It's that simple. Or is it? STWJ examines our commitment to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Is this a hard thing to do? Many Christians believe that it is too difficult to drop their sin and commit to the Word of God. Why is this? Is sin more powerful than God? If we claim we're not religious but have relationship; where is the reciprocity with God in our lives? Are we more committed to man, things, sex, money, and career more than God? Join the conversation on Thursday, we want to hear from you on this.

SPECIAL TOPIC Night - "For Our Kids" - Deborah Maddison and Tracy Baxter, Canadian activists from British Columbia, will join Bill Murray to lead this evening's discussion about the Rights of Children and Families in North America. The institution commonly known as "Child Protective Services" has operated in an almost untouchable position in North America for decades, as if it was "above the law". To speak out against CPS was to risk losing your children, your family, your career, and in some cases your freedom, as retaliation was quick and vicious. Thankfully, there has been a recent turn in public opinion due to media exposure, precedent-setting lawsuits, ground breaking documentaries and people refusing to be silenced. Slowly, the Courts are starting to hold CPS agencies responsible for their illegal actions and abuses." We'll speak to the producer and director of 'Hope Stripped Bare', Tom Sutherland and cameraman Linley Redford, whose documentary is about the CPS system in North America. We will also be speaking with attorney and advocate Nanine McCool, executive director of Bridge to Justice Foundation, who fought to expose injustice in Family Court. We'll also have a former CPS worker who is willing to speak out about just how deep and how prevalent the corruption of these agencies is. ~~ Every two weeks a new THEME will be presented in this series, with frequent special guests speaking from their own experience. ~~ Please see our web page at: www.NAASCA.org/ForOurKids or write to: firstname.lastname@example.org
