    The Romanticism of Technology

    in Entrepreneur

In today's edition of Tech Innovators, Deb discusses the way technology has been "romanticized" in the minds of consumers, so that they feel they MUST HAVE the latest gadgetry, even if it means going into debt. What is this motivation for having the latest, greatest gadgets?

Many new tech items are primarily marketed on a "social status" platform than actual value. Think before you buy and consider the cost of over purchasing for the hottest tech items. There is no way anyone will ever truly keep up with "The Jonses," because technology is in a constant state of flux.

Quote: "The only 'constant' in technology is change!"

Benefits Administration and Private Exchange Technology

    in Business

In the last program before the inaugural Private Exchange FORUM in Dallas, hosts Brent Macy and Doug Field will welcome two guests to the program to cover all of the latest in benefits administration and private exchange technology.

The first guest on this week's program will be Kismet Toksu, president of EBenefits Solutions, an IHC Affiliate Member. In 2002, UPMC was seeking an online benefit administration solution to address its 50,000-plus employees spread over more than 50 business units at various locations. Unable to find a system to meet these needs, UPMC made significant investments in technology and expertise to build the solution in-house. The overwhelming success of this initiative for such a diverse organization fostered the creation of EBenefits Solutions in 2005. In this segment, Kismet and the hosts will discuss benefits administration trends and what's ahead for EBenefits.

For the second segment, starting at 11:30 a.m. (ET), the hosts will welcome Scott Carver, president, PlanSource, to the program to discuss the ongoing revolution in benefits administration. It's no surprise that the benefits industry is undergoing dramatic change, and it’s not really about benefits administration anymore – it’s about benefits engagement. The focus on private exchanges and their growth is one important catalyst for the change we’ve been seeing. 2015 is shaping up to be a milestone year for private exchanges with some very strong signals about how the market is viewing the importance of these technology platforms in the fast-changing health and benefits industry.

There is no denying that we are who we are today because of the magic of technology. In 65 years technological innovation has simply exploded. Every piece of equipment has been recreated and improved upon. Even some parts of our own bodies have been manipulated and fixed due to these incredible technologies. For that we must applaud those who have pushed hard to go beyond the human limits.

So what’s the inverse? Well, since technology is so very effective and efficient it’s no surprise that it’s EVERYWHERE. Many of us share a workspace with more electronics than people. This has had mental and physical effects on those who...

    HCM Technology Trends

    in Business

Brandon Hall Group recently launched our HCM Technology Trends Survey.  In this episode, I talk with my guest, Mollie Lombardi about a number of things related to the survey.  We discuss the benefit to HR leaders and practitioners who participate in surveys.  We also discuss where HR Technology is headed this year and if Mollie anticipates any changes in how high-performing organizations are approaching technology.

With the pace of changes in HR Technology, some HR professionals can become intimidated about their skills and abilities.  It often seems overwhelming to think about how to learn about HR technology and then to keep abreast of all the new developments.  Mollie and I discuss some techniques of how to handle this.  We wrap with information on how to obtain a summary of the HCM Technology Trends highlights.
