    in Politics

Tune in at 11pm EST with your host William Kern, as we examine the strangely-timed exchange of accusations between China and Japan of biological weapons use - China against Japan, and Japan against the United States. Then we'll look at recent NSA revelations and President Obama's speech today on reforming the way the agency does business, and Berlin's consternation over the realization that there will be no serious U.S. commitment not to spy on allies. Finally, we'll look at reactions from Switzerland and Germany to the recent 'Polar Vortex' over North America.

It is amazing how easily we can be pulled away from the important.

DAMNED IF YOU DO, DAMNED IF YOU DON'T- WHY MOTHERS CAN'T WIN IN COURT

    in Current Events

Join us as we talk with Margo Lindauer, author of "Damned if you do, damned if you don't: Why multi-court-involved battered mothers just can't win." As Lindauer states in her book, "Being a good mother is difficult. Being a good mother and a victim 1 of domestic violence 2 is even harder. The different and often competing expectations placed on battered mothers in the juvenile (child welfare), 3 civil/trial, 4 criminal, and family 5 court systems present a profound and befuddling problem. In this Article, I intend to identify the difficulty and uniqueness of being both a mother 6 and a victim of domestic violence, investigate the tension and conflict among different judicial systems, and proffer some suggestions for reform."

    in Politics

Short Kansas political news commentaries  interspersed between audio segments.

"New World Notes" is produced under the auspices (Latin for "resigned sighs") of WWUH-FM, a community service of that beacon of light in darkest Connecticut, the University of Hartford.More details, photos, nice links, & other good stuff on the show's Web site: http://newworldnotes.blogspot.com

Adam Curtis's new documentary, condensed & adapted to radio by Kenneth Dowst. An interesting and entertaining look at the histories and politics of Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and the U.S. since the 1940s.

PART ONE It's about the history and politics of Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and the U.S. since 1946. About the many failures of reformers--American, Russian, and Afghan alike--to remake and modernize Afghanistan. It's about shrewd and cynical calculations by Saudi and American leaders--who promote development and stability in Saudi Arabia by exporting Saudi extremist Islam (Wahhabism) abroad--including to Afghanistan.

PART TWO looks at the failed Russian attempts to reform Afghanistan in the 1980s ... the failed American attempts to reform Afghanistan since 2001 ... the transfer of political power in the West from governments to defense industries and the banks

PART THREE shows the corruption, conflicts, complexity, warlordism, and ever-shifting local alliances of Afghan society today. And it shows the naivete and ignorance of the English and American occupying forces (and of the politicians who dispatched them).

It is time for Conservatives and Republicans To Work Together

    in Politics Conservative

I don't know what more you need to see.  Yesterday the 4th branch of government flexed their non-constitutional authority by essentally nationalizing the internet, in the same way China and Iraq does.  I don't see the kind of urgency from the right that I think is needed to turn the tide before it is too late.  Let's take a look, The Affordable Care Act and the president making changes in that law on a whim and not going through the legislative process. The IRS looking into groups that were on the adminstration's enemies list. Blanket NSA spying on Americans.  The adminstration spying on journalist in the capitol. And yesterday, the FCC decided that it has the authority to regulate the internet.  Friends with regulation comes taxation and control.

Eagle Scout Aaron Krause advocating for an Autistic Voice

    in Family

Today we welcome Aaron Krause to Autism and Scouting Radio. Aaron is a new Eagle Scout, recent high school graduate and college student who regularly advocates for himself and for others on the autism spectrum. His Eagle Project was a video called "All Are Welcome" which was produced to help others know that all abilities are welcome in the Greater Milwaukee Synod of the ELCA. This video was shown at the Urban Autism Summit and during the opening for the International Summit on Disability Employment held in Honolulu, Hawaii in 2014.

We will be talking about Aaron's journey within scouting. Aaron started as a Tiger Cub Scout and continued for many years in the program, earning his Arrow of Light and later transitioning into Boy Scouts. We will also be asking Aaron abut his self-advocacy work. Aaron is a big believer in promoting autism acceptance and empowerment. He has testified at the Wisconsin state Capitol on a variety of autism-related issues including insurance reform, scholarships and school vouchers. He has also been interviewed on radio and TV. One of Aaron's life goals is to continue learning about autism and to spread Autism Acceptance wherever he goes.
