Dave puts the capper on a great Dodgers baseball season with a sour ending to the Cardinals in the Division Series. Are the Dodgers ever going to realize that World Series title or will bad luck continue to haunt them in October? We'll see what's next for the Dodgers in the near future, PLUS Mike in North NJ joins Dave for a Notre Dame/FSU preview. We'll hear from the "Kids Club" with the Week 7 football picks, where Ron had a big week and ties for 1st with Ottis. John and Andy will also try to work their way back towards first place. Then, in Hour 2, Kevin on the Cape joins Dave for "Random Questions" as the MLB postseason rolls through the LCS round. Can the Royals make some new history with a World Series appearance?
As usual, it’s once again Sunday morning, which on CLNS Radio can only mean it’s time for another edition of the “Pushing the Envelope” podcast. On today’s show we will touch many subjects, starting from the Little League World Series. While for those few teams it’s great, the reality is that LSWW is bad for the majority of the youngsters involved. After that I will give you my thoughts on what is going on with Notre Dame and their small scandal.
Then I will dive on the subject that has affected car racing of late, with Tony Stewart killing Kevin Ward Jr. I will give you my take on all of it. I will also give you what I think about NASCAR’s new rule coming out of this tragedy. And finally, with less than two weeks from the beginning of college football, I will begin to look at the ACC and what I think will happen in its two Divisions. Including who will win the ACC championship game.
Like every other Sunday from 10 til 11 am EST this episode of “Pushing the Envelope” will once again be packed and once again I will not sit on the fence on any subject, since this is the podcast that never stands on the sidelines!
This is the kickoff of my 2014 college football previews. I will start with previewing the Atlantic Coast Conference with fellow sports blogger extraodinaire Jake Anderson. Among the topics to be covered: 1) how will Louisville fare in its first season in the ACC; 2) will Notre Dame's partial football membership enhance the ACC's profile; 3) who could challenge Florida State; 4) should Florida State be a favorite to repeat as national champs; 5) where does the ACC rank among other power conferences?
Jim Hurley's weekly football betting podcast takes aim at the big game of Saturday, when Notre Dame visits Florida State. Hurley then explores an under-the-radar topic in college football handicapping in examining Kentucky, a dark horse team that's winning games and covering pointspreads. Listen in before you watch the games on Saturday and especially before you bet.
The Michigan State Spartans put their 3-0 record to the test when they invade South Bend on Saturday, for a matchup with rival Notre Dame.
Joe Rexrode of the Detroit Free Press is scheduled to join us to discuss the Spartans' chances of pulling the upset.
We'll also look back at Michigan's nearly disastrous performance against Akron. Was that game simply a poor showing or a sign of trouble ahead?
Also, we'll open with some thoughts on the 1-1 Detroit Lions. What's been impressive and depressive throughout the first two weeks of the young season?
