Live Reggae Round Round Table chat: R.I.P. Record Store Day or can it be saved?

    in Music

R.I.P. Record Store Day or can it be saved?Let me preface this post by stating that I LOVE Record Stores.  I WANT Record Stores to succeed.  I LOVE the spirit that Record Store Day originally championed.  I don't want Record Store Day to go away, but there are too many glaring issues that stores don't get to publicly mention and I've been asked to help be a voice for those that are afraid to speak up, for fear of retribution.
Ever since March 20th, when the official lists for Record Store Day have come out, you've seen some minor rumblings of a backlash towards Record Store Day.  It has started to gain traction, received national attention and was very upsetting to those behind Record Store Day.  But the problem is, if this stuff doesn't get discussed, how else can it get out?  Not everything can or should be discussed behind closed doors--sometimes transparency is needed.
I made a post last year about some tweaks that were needed for Record Store Day here.  Because in talking to as many stores as I do, I could see this coming.  I was hoping that some of these issues would be fixed, but sadly we are now at the end of the road and two things are getting ready to happen:

    a) Record Store Day is going to kill itself due to abundance of product b) Record Store Day is going to be abandoned by the very stores/artists/labels it was setup to promote

So what are some of the fundamental problems going on in the industry that will help kill Record Store Day:http://new-vinyl.blogspot.com/2014/04/rip-record-store-day-or-can-it-be-saved.html

Who On Earth Did I Get Married To?? HELP!!!

    in Relationships

Yes, we know y'all's marriage is "Heaven on Earth", but here is a Male listener's woes....

"My wife of 6 years is a stranger to me! I don't think I really know her anymore. We are both from very affluent families and God has been very good to us. We connected through mutual friends from our circle of  wealthy friends, dated and then got married. 3 years ago, my job transferred me to Texas from Nigeria and we both came  out here.

Since we're here without family and the kind of lifestyle we lived in Lagos is totally different from the one here, it's seems like I never knew what my wife could or could not do as the woman of the house. Pardon me, but you are a lady, answer me this, Do you soak underwears for a weak?? My wife does this and it baffles me! She doesn't cook, she insists we eat out or order delivery food everyday, the house is always in disarray and I have tried so many times to talk with her but she says she is used to a certain way of life no can't just change.

You see while we were in Lagos, we had access to family and house helps, drivers etc, now she is calling for the same lifestyle here in Texas! Yes the job pays well but I think we could put the money to other use for the family eg, investment opportunities.

Please help me, I love my wife, she is a very nice lady, caring and loving but this lazy side of her, I do not understand!" Thanks, I'll listen in on Tuesday.

There we have it folks!!! Let, help a brother out.... Join us at 8pm, let's swap tales

There's No Greater Love Than Jesus

    in Christianity

John 15:13 says, Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends. And isnt that the same love we find most difficult to understand? How can God love me so much even when I was found deep in my own sin, going my own way yet so desperately needing a savior. And the truth is we needed to be saved from ourselves. Christ gave up His life, took up his cross and our sins were nailed with Him, forever wiped away because He first loved us. We cannot fully comprehend the depth, width and height of Gods love no matter how hard we try. And for those of you who feel you dont deserve His love, truth is you don't. God just ask of you to except his invitation to turn from your sin and doing it your way, and give your life fully to Christ and watch Him work. This is the kind of love the world needs to hear, that God loves them so much that he doesnt want to see you in chains, bound up and tied up in your sin, because now there is hope, joy , peace and freedom being offered to all who seek. For theres no greater love than Jesus Christ.....now thats something to celebrate!
