    Non-Compliance for heart transplant

    in Politics

Patient Compliance for Transplant Caregivers A huge factor in having a successful, long-living transplant is compliance. Patient compliance with transplants can dictate whether a transplant will survive. Bad compliance could even prevent someone from receiving a transplant. There are many different factors that go into a successful transplant: medication compliance, compliance with nutrition, doctors appointments, insurance, finances, etc. You may wonder how you can help with the patient's compliance. You may also feel stress due to monitoring the compliance of the patient in addition to providing so much other care.
In 1980 Beck and colleagues completed a study about medication compliance in pediatric renal transplant patients. The study found that initially 26 percent of participants were non-compliant with their medication regimen post-transplant, and after extensive counseling and education 19 percent remained non-compliant with their medication regimen. Factors they found associated with non-compliance were adolescence, female sex, and family instability. Though this study was completed over 30 years ago, it still shows that with family stability, transplant medication compliance may improve.
A different study completed in 1999 by Dew and colleagues found that after heart transplants, focusing on patients' psychosocial status improved medication compliance which will further improve physical health outcomes. This study helps show that by working with the patient and family post-transplant to ensure their psychosocial status is stable may assist in prolonging their life. This can be done in many ways, including counseling for mental health illnesses, assistance with insurance and financial issues, and even assisting in family issues.
Tonight we'll discuss "Non-Compliance for heart transplant. The Anthony Stokes issue. Is it race or not meeting the requirements.Call in now.

    KAREN TOSTADO: PEACEFUL NON-COMPLIANCE

    in Current Events

The global majority of over 7 billion people don't notice they are being lied to, stolen from, overtaxed, experimented on, and underestimated.  It's only because we allow ourselves to be turned into an obedient slave that we become one. Unless we research our way into the facts, digging further into the questionable actions of the few toward the many, we, by default, will continue to live as slaves, detained in a cell without bars, and bound by paperwork under legal 'economic conquest', as described by Karen Tostado, of United We Strike.Karen is a Singer/Song-Writer/Lyricist/Activist who realised that silence is compliance after waking up to a new beginning through an unforeseen health crisis.  Her recuperation included re-educating herself about genetically altered foods, and sharing her research with the few who would listen.  Though most didn't want to believe or know the truth, Karen began writing articles and broadcasting over internet radio, as well as working toward an online presence.  Continued here: http://truthconnections.wordpress.com/2013/04/02/karen-tostado/

Carson's Corner: The Election Boycott Advocates.

    in Politics Progressive

On this edition of Carson's Corner with the Election Boycott Advocates, we revisit the purpose of the Election Boycott Advocates. Some are suggesting that even the election of Syriza cannot save Greece and there can be no electoral exit from the crisis (http://crimethinc.com/texts/r/syriza/).  We at the Election Boycott Advocates believe that there can be no electoral exit from our current and ongoing crises, capitalism. Participation in our plutocratic election system is absolutely meaningless, as the capitalist class use our consent to make us weaker and weaker, as they get stronger and stronger.  It is critical that working class Americans realize that they have no stake in our election system and join us in spreading non-compliance.  The first step in any revolution is the elevation of consciousness, then non-compliance. This 2 hour program will be dedicated to expressing the need for the Election Boycott Advocates.

Mad U with hosts Sarah Knutson and Lauren Tenney

    in Education

4/2/15, 9-11 PM Estern Talk with hosts Sarah Knutson and  Lauren Tenney. Be part of the program, call: (267)521-0167

"The barriers to change in the mental health system are enormous." These words are as true today as when they were written nearly 40 years ago by Judi Chamberlin (1978) in her paradigm-changing work, On Our Own: Patient-Controlled Alternatives to the Mental Health System. In this episode of Mad U, we explore and reflect together on some of Judi's core ideas.

    Course Reading:

Chamberlin, J. (1998). Confessions of a noncompliant patient. Journal of Psychosocial Nursing, 36, 49-52. http://www.power2u.org/articles/recovery/confessions.html.

Chamberlin, J. (1990). The ex-patients’ movement: Where we’ve been and where we’re going. The Journal of Mind and Behavior, 11, 323-336. http://www.power2u.org/articles/history-project/ex-patients.html

Questions for reflection: Judi calls the ex-patients movement a 'liberation struggle of oppressed people' - what does that mean to you? Have you ever been called non-compliant by the mental health system? Have you ever felt pressure to comply? How did that impact you? Your relationships? Your feelings about the system? What role is there, if any, for compliance/ noncompliance in a human rights informed society? When if ever, should one person be allowed to substitute their judgment (reality) for someone else's? What concerns motivated the early ex-patient's movement? How did those concerns inform the values of the ex-patients movement? Where do you see those same values present today in how ...we treat each other as individuals? we advocate for society to treat us? we organize together to serve our communities? Where and why have we lost sight of these values? What, if anything, should we do about that?

4 20 Verses Medical Marijuana on the ghetto truth in Stereo

    in Health

When men make unjust laws about a natural plant which cures, correct pain and relaxes the human body more than any Pharma drug could, I say, “Spark It!”, and for some Cancer patients who are grateful to get their THC’s in bakery goods, teas, candy, or etc., enjoy it. Anyone who has ever been in pain could advocate this, because if you could imagine someone being in pain 24-7, this natural plant, is the savior. The lawmakers become politically pompous when they have their fingertips in the industry of Medical Marijuana and at the same time, you’re in jail if you’re not purchasing cannabis from the .GOV.

There are about 23 states Medical Marijuana could be found and no surprise here, there are no Bible Belt states included in the 23.  4 20 is coming and for a lot of people, every day is 4 20 and on your next hit, say a prayer for the lawmakers and affirm they take a puff and ease up.  On the ‘ghetto truth’ in stereo, we’re going to talk about some pros and myths in the use of Hemp and Cannabis. This segment is open discussion and a Non users opinion of 4 20 and Medical Marijuana are welcome  of course, so tune into the ghetto truth in stereo and see what shows up out of the dark.

AKANFO NANASOM: Soul-Responsibility - Okra/Okraa (Ka/Kait) Ritual to Order Life

    in Education

In this episode of AKANFO NANASOM, we examine the nature of ritual with the Okra/Okraa (Ka/Kait), the Soul/Divine Consciousness - the personal Obosom (Deity) dwelling in our head region assigned to us by Nyamewaa-Nyame (Amenet-Amen). It is our 'Soul-Responsibility' to align ourselves with the Okra/Okraa for mental, emotional and spiritual balance.

Excerpt from our book, The Okra/Okraa Complex - The Soul of Akanfo:

"...Success, happiness, joy, peace, fulfillment, balance, etc. in reality are manifestations of our alignment with our Okra/Okraa. When we align or realign with our personal Obosom [Deity], we realign with our function as well as the spiritual energy we have inherited to execute our function. This internal alignment is impervious to disorder, anxiety, misguided fear, misguided frustration, depression, etc. streaming in from outside influences, physical or non-physical and/or from internalized conditionings rooted in misinformation.

Every perceived obstacle that we face can be overcome through our alignment with our Okra/Okraa, for through this alignment we are able to access the Consciousness and Power of Nyamewaa-Nyame inscribed within our Okra/Okraa complex..."
