Matthew 24 & 25 is commonly known as the "Olivet Discourse."
In previous discussions we've noted that Jesus related events associated with His coming to pour out God's wrath upon Jerusalem and all the Jews in order to fulfill prophecy and bring their covenant with Him to an irreversible end in AD 70. He was to "come with the clouds" to consume the flesh of the carcase and to "gather" His elect into the new covenant relationship with Him.
In today's discussion we'll look at two illustrations which prompted the urgency of that generation to be alert for the great and awesome "day of the Lord." It also sets the stage for applying the two opening parables of chp. 25. Those illustrations are "the flood" and "the faithful and sensible slave."
As always, we insist that the teachings of Jesus and His apostles are not merely based on the prophets; but they are the God-inspired words which show a promise-keeping God fulfilling His word!
Hotep Kenyatta (Dr Shaka Blaka) speaks re: Language can be a tool of oppression. Clearly few people want to connect themselves to Africa? Why. Because from the 7th century AD onwards, powerful scholars took a passage from Jewish ancient holy texts and misrepresented it as though "dark skin is a curse from God, who cursed Noah's son Ham for seeing his father naked and drunk, etc" Since then, there have been various efforts to hide the black/african nature of all civilization/humanity, and language has not been spared the racists/white nationalists sword of destruction. (NOTE: Let's also remember that an ancient African, or Native South American language may be represented in Latin Script (letters, characters) but that this never means that the original language is Latin/Roman. Only the writing style used to represent the ancient African, etc sounds/spoken language. People get this confused so often, and brainwashing is hard to fix when people don't know they're brainwashed...!
Also listen in for how the concept of ETYMOLOGY is used in racist way.
Tonight I welcome 670 The Score's Joe Ostrowski back to the program. We'll talk about the Bulls and other NBA teams making noise as the playoffs approach. Bears chairman George McCaskey spoke to the media yesterday about his decision to meet with newly acquired defensive end Ray McDonald, whose signing created quite a stir in Chicago. The Blackhawks continued their offensive struggles last night, falling to the irrelevant Philadelphia Flyers 4-1. And the Sweet 16 kicks off tonight, I've got more matchup previews for you! All this and your phone calls at (347) 327-9183.

What does it mean to truly live well? Would you say you're doing that right now?
It usually boils down to not what you have or what you know, but the kind of person you are. In a word, it's character. The true test of your character usually shines through in the storms of life. So what happens to you when you encounter a storm? Does it bring out the best in you or the worst in you?
Don't be alarmed! The objective is not to be perfect but about adopting good, healthy life habits. It's not as complicated as some may think either. The rub comes when you try to manufacture your own rules for good living rather than to accept what the Designer of Life has made clear.
Tune in today for this revealing chat with Dr. Dean Posey, author of 12 Gifts We Can't Afford to Lose: What Noah Can Teach Us About Surviving the Storms of Life and Living Well, and senior pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Arlington, TX.

The Chicago Bears added two defensive ends to their roster on Tuesday. One of them may be a distraction to a team that had locker room issues last season. The Blackhawks bounced back from an ugly loss to the Dallas Stars over the weekend with a 3-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes Monday night, thanks to the continued strength of Corey Crawford in net. Jonathan Toews and Coach Joel Quenneville both hit career milestones with the win. The Bulls clinched a playoff spot with their over the Charlotte Hornets Monday night, with rookie Nikola Mirotic again leading the way with solid minutes off the bench. Joakim Noah has been playing the point-center position very well in Derrick Rose's absence. Should Tom Thibodeau think about using Noah to run the offense when Derrick returns? Plus, my bracket for the NCAA tournament is still alive, but certainly not perfect. I'll give a preview of two of the upcoming Sweet 16 matchups. All this and your phonecalls! (347) 327-9183.
