Our meetings last one-hour & are structured as follows:

    1. The first 5 minutes: Welcoming, Checking In. taking a moment of silence.

    Shirts v. Skins

    in Sports

Broncos are Super Bowl Champs. What's next for the Blue & Orange (I'm thinking no playoffs next year, for one)? Peyton Manning coming back (I hope so)? Cam Newton shows his true colors- and that's a problem? NBA All-Star Weekend.. Zach Lavine steals the show in North America v. World, and then repeats as Dunk Champ in what might have been the best dunk contest ever with Aaron Gordon (even better than Jordan & Dominique).. College basketball is ramping up, and nobody seems to be wanting to take the mantel as best team in the country. Who's gonna step up come Tourney Time? Oh, and Mike Yeo finally gets canned from the Wild (about time). Tune in or get tuned out. It's Shirts v. Skins

The Helios Biblios Hour (book of t he SUN) : The Deadly Wound That Was Healed

    in Current Events

On Saturday, July 16, 1054, as afternoon prayers were about to begin, Cardinal Humbert, legate of Pope Leo IX, strode into the Cathedral of Hagia Sophia, right up to the main altar, and placed on it a parchment that declared the Patriarch of Constantinople, Michael Cerularius, to be excommunicated. He then marched out of the church, shook its dust from his feet, and left the city. A week later the patriarch solemnly condemned the cardinal.Centuries later, this dramatic incident was thought to mark the beginning of the schism between the Latin and the Greek churches, a division that still separates Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox (Greek, Russian, and other). Today, however, no serious scholar maintains that the schism began in 1054,In addition, since the ninth century, theological controversy had focused on the procession of the Holy Spirit. In the life of the Trinity, does the Spirit proceed from the Father only, or from the Father and from the Son (Filioque in Latin)? The Western church, concerned about resurgent Arianism, had, almost inadvertently, added the word to the Nicene Creed, claiming that it made more precise a teaching already in the creed.

The Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches have been at odds for over 1,000 years. Friday's meeting in Havana — where Pope Francis and Patriarch Kirill will sign a joint accord — could be a critical step towards helping heal the rift.

It took two years for the Holy See and the Patriarchate of Moscow to hash out the terms for the meeting — not long in the grand scheme of things.

The Western and Eastern Christian churches split over persistent theological disputes in 1054 — and formally separated in 1438.

Justice Antonin Scalia's Last Hunting Trip

    in Politics

Obama called Scalia, who served on the nation's highest court for nearly 30 years, a "larger-than-life presence" and said he intended to nominate someone to fill the vacant seat before leaving the White House next January.

"I plan to fulfill my constitutional responsibility to appoint a successor in due time and there will be plenty of time for me to do so and for the Senate to give that person a fair hearing and timely vote," Obama told reporters in California.

Saturday Night Flight Planet X Found!

    in Current Events

New 'Super Earth' Planet X discovered at edge of Solar System

Two separate research groups claim to have finally uncovered a massive new planet beyond Pluto.

They believe a dot picked up by ALMA radio telescopes in Chile is a new planet several times the size of Earth or a larger brown dwarf star further away.

One group – from Sweden – has named the new world "Gna" after a Nordic messenger goddess.

Astronomers have been hunting for another planet – dubbed Planet X – to explain wobbles in the other planets' orbits for 100 years.

Conspiracy theorists have warned Planet X is the alien world Nibiru.

The independent research groups spotted "new blackbody point sources" at different areas of the night sky – once near the star W Aquilae and the other next to our nearest neighbouring star system, Alpha Centauri.

Astronomers first thought the bodies were faint glows from far-distant background galaxies.

But in separate pairs of snapshots – taken over a period of months – both objects seemed to move swiftly against the “fixed” background stars – suggesting they were much closer to Earth.

The authors of the Swedish study write: "Simple arguments convince us that this object cannot be an ordinary star.

"We argue that the object is most likely part of the solar system… albeit at a distance too far to be detectable at other wavelengths."

Different kinds of space object could explain the light source.

Theories range from a 125-mile wide asteroid floating between Saturn and Uranus, to a planet somewhere between the size of Earth and Neptune six times further from the Sun than Pluto, to a small cooled-down star called a brown dwarf even further out.
