The New England Patriots have been the AFC East Champions for six straight years, and have won 12 of the last 14 dating back to 2001. In retrospect, the Buffalo Bills have not won the AFC East since 1995.
The optimisim is high, in Buffalo. Rex Ryan was dismissed as the New York Jets head coach, and then subsequenltly hired as the Bills head coach. The Bills did everything on paper to try and compete against the Patriots. However, it is to be determined if a trade for Matt Cassel is the answer at quarterback. They picked up dynamic running LeSean McCoy, in a trade with the Philadephia Eagles. They also added Percy Harvin at wide receiver.
The New England Patriots are coming off of another Super Bowl victory. However, controversy has surrounded the playoffs, with "Deflate Gate." Tom Brady was suspended four games, by Roger Goodell. Brady has brought this case to the court system. In either case, to be the best you have to beat the best.
The Miami Dolphins may have signed the biggest free agent, when they signed Ndamukong Suh to a 6 year $114 million contract. With a progressing Ryan Tannehill, can the Dolphins find a way to overtake the Patriots? They found a formiddle running game, in 2014, that ranked 12th overall, and a passing game that ranked 17th.
After a preseason fight, the New York Jets will be without Geno Smith. Was he really the answer? The Jets are coming off a horrid 4-12 season, where they scored a league low 27 touchdowns (tied with Jacksonville). Usually, the Jets have a sound defense; however, they finished 24th in scoring defense.
Join SSR writers Jimmy Siettmann, Brian Emejuru, and Jeremiah Martinez as they preview the AFC East. The New Englad Patriots are the defendeing Super Bowl champions, but can they reclaim their title again this season? The Dolphins made big splashes in free agency, will they finally make the playoffs this year? The Buffalo Bills seem to have everything a team need, except the most important part, a quarterback. Who will start for them at QB this year? And the Jets have been in the news for some not so bright storylines recently, but will that effect how they play this season? Tune in for breakdown, and analysis of all 4 AFC east teams,
It's time for football again, and time for Doug Farrar of Sports Illustrated and Greg Cosell of NFL Films to preview the 2015 season, division by division. We start with the NFC East, a division with all kinds of questions: Can the Cowboys lean on their offensive line enough to overcome the loss of DeMarco Murray? Is the Giants' passing game good enough to overcome issues at other placed on the roster? Will Chip Kelly's serious roster makeover give the Eagles the division title? And can Jay Gruden and Robert Griffin III ever get on the same page? Doug and Greg go under the hood with serious conceptual and schematic discussions.
