Sunday, December 7, 8 pm ET The Halli Casser-Jayne Show brings you a conversation with New York Times bestselling author Phillip Margolin, whose brand new mystery WOMEN WITH A GUN has just been released.
Phillip Margolin’s rise to become one of America’s most respected mystery writers was a circuitous root. Margolin, raised in New York City and Levittown, New York graduated from The American University in Washington, D.C. with a Bachelor's Degree in Government. From 1965 to 1967, he was a Peace Corps volunteer in Liberia, West Africa. Following his service in Africa, Margolin attended New York University School of Law. From 1972 until 1996, Margolin was in private practice in Portland, Oregon, specializing in criminal defense at the trial and appellate levels. As an appellate attorney he appeared before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the Oregon Supreme Court and the Oregon Court of Appeals. As a trial attorney, he handled all sorts of criminal cases in state and federal court and represented approximately 30 people charged with homicide, including several who faced the death penalty. He was also the first Oregon attorney to use the Battered Women's Syndrome to defend a battered woman accused of murdering her spouse. Then to our great fortune, Phillip Margolin started writing. Eighteen novels later, many of them New York Times bestsellers, winner of the Distinguished Northwest Writer Award, Margolin outdoes himself with his newest contribution to fiction, his haunting WOMEN WITH A GUN.

I'll sit down with #1 New York Times Bestselling Author, P.C. Cast on Thursday, April 9th @6:00pm EST about her latest novel, Redeemed, Book 12 in the House of Night Novels. This spellbinding new book series follows fledgling vampyre Zoey Redbird as she enters the mysterious House of Night school, gains astonishing powers and searches for eternal love. Redeemed is the final electrifying installment in the #1 New York Times bestselling vampyre series by PC and Kristin Cast.
Zoey Redbird is in trouble. Having released the Seer Stone to Aphrodite, and surrendered herself to the Tulsa Police, she has isolated herself from her friends and mentors, determined to face the punishment she deserves--even if that means her body will reject the change, and begin to die. Only the love of those closest to her can save her from the Darkness in her spirit; but a terrible evil has emerged from the shadows, more powerful than ever…
Neferet has finally made herself known to mortals. Crowning herself a Dark Goddess, she is evil unleashed and is enslaving the citizens of Tulsa. The vampyres of the House of Night have banded with the police, and are gathering every last resource they have, but they know that no single vampyre is strong enough to vanquish her--unless that vampyre has the power to summon the elements as well as the ability to wield Old Magick. Only Zoey is heir to such power…but because of the consequences of using Old Magick, she is unable to help.
In the final novel in the House of Night series, an epic battle of Light versus Darkness will decide who is redeemed…and who is forever lost.
Joining the show at 3pm will be Joel Magnuson, a professor of economics and author of 'Mindful Economics'. The troubles we face are not the result of a good system gone awry, but rather a system that is built to do exactly what it is doing: corporations are designed to reap profits for shareholders—at any cost. The greater welfare of society, or of the environment, will never be as important as financial gain. Magnuson shows us the relationship between the current wars abroad; rising oil prices; the recession; ballooning incomes of top CEOs; the mortgage crisis; and the health care, insurance, and auto industries, and he teaches us that the best way to understand the US economy is to think like an economist.
On the show next at 3:15 will be Norma J. Watts, author of 'The Art of Baby Nameology'. She will share with us how a name can shape your baby'
s future and can explain personality traits.
On next at 3:30 will be award winning Nadeem Aslam, author of 'The Wasted Vigil' n mesmerizing prose, Nadeem Aslam reveals the complex ties—of love and desperation, pain and salvation, madness and clarity—that bind the characters. And through their stories he creates a timely and achingly intimate portrait of the “continuation of wars” that shapes our world.
Our musical guest at 3:45 will be Moneyland. Modern day bluegrass patriarch Del McCoury offers timely multi-artist collection that features a hard-hitting look at economic injustice through songs old and new.

Have you ever wondered what it would take to write a best seller?
New York Times bestselling author Caitlin Rother has written or co-authored eight books, including true crime thrillers Poisoned Love, Dead Reckoning, Body Parts, Twisted Triangle, and Lost Girls, and the thriller Naked Addiction. Two of her books are inspirational memoirs about her co-authors: New York Times bestseller My Life, Deleted and Where Hope Begins/Deadly Devotion. She is now working on #9, about the love triangle murder of Newport Beach multimillionaire inventor Bill McLaughlin by his girlfriend, femme fatale Nanette Packard, and her NFL-linebacker lover, Eric Naposki.
Rother’s newest title is Lost Girls: The desperate search for two lost innocents, Chelsea King and Amber Dubois, led authorities to a brutal predator hiding in plain sight – John Albert Gardner, a convicted sex offender who could have been returned to prison several times over. Rother delivers an incisive, heartbreaking true-life thriller about a case that galvanized the community, first by grief and goodwill, then by anger and injustice, as it came to grips with a flawed system that failed, and adopted a law that will forever change how we keep our children safe. Lost Girls follows the evolution of Gardner’s troubled psyche as he grows from a sensitive caring boy into a dangerous angry man who couldn’t control his violent compulsions. Rother gained exclusive access to documents and never-before-told details, which she used to weave a compelling behind-the-scenes look at this disturbing case, featured on 48 Hours, Dateline, Today, Good Morning America, Nancy Grace, and Larry King Live.
