On this week’s The Farm radio talk show on the Overthrow Radio Network, host Chris Petherick will be joined by attorney Pete Kennedy, the president of the Farm to Consumer Legal Defense Fund.
Pete is an expert on raw dairy issues, focusing on issues related to this in several states, as well as other foods. He also works on legislation at the state and federal levels related to food safety and raw milk.
On this show, Pete and Chris will discuss family farms in the U.S. More specifically, they will look at the case of Vernon Hershberger, the Wisconsin dairy farmer who was targeted by law enforcement and dragged through the courts because he wanted to sell healthy foods to people who wanted to buy them from him. May 28 marks the two-year anniversary of the court ruling that cleared him of most of the charges brought by prosecutors.
Tune in live this Friday morning, May 29, from 11 a.m. to noon ET or download the MP3 in our archives section. See OverthrowRadio.com for more information.
President Barack Obama and his administration support taking Pell Grant money from veterans and giving it to prison inmates. This is simply despicable to me and it should be to you as well!
We all should be outraged at this proposal. Do we really want our tax dollars taken away from the people that put their lives on the line to protect this country? The VA is in enough turmoil right now. Veterans are not receiving adequate medical care right now because of scandal surrounding a secret list of patients waiting for care.
This is an insult to all of the men and women that wear the military uniform. How can any of us even consider deferring money from our veterans in order to give it to people that are being punished for crimes committed in this country?
Al Sharpton Says the Texas Floods Are God's Rebuke!
Al Sharpton has made another ridiculous accusation and blamed the floods in Texas on climate control and God's rebuke. He has made statements like this in the past over natural disaster. This time even the left wing media is calling him out on this.
It is a wonder to me how he is able to hold on to his job at MSNBC after such an insensitive and inflammatory remark. Sharpton has one of the lowest rate shows on that network and no major sponsors. Who does Al have something on in order to keep his position? Further more why has he had access to the president even more than some of the cabinet?
?Was It A Good Move for Carly Fiorina to Crash Hillary's Event?
Many are saying that it was a mistake for Carly to try and upstage Clinton yesterday. She staged a press conference outside of the hotel where Clinton was speaking. Does any one believe it when she said she had this even scheduled for months?
Dr. Sheldon Feldman is chief of breast surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center and assistant professor of surgery at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons where he oversees the breast cancer surgery program at the Comprehensive Breast Center of the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia, and work in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of radiologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, plastic surgeons and other breast cancer support staff.
Dr. Feldman is helping to pioneer the use of the ductoscope, a tiny endoscope inserted through the patient's nipple used for diagnosis, surveillance and treatment of cancer patients. His research using the device may help lead to a simple test for early diagnosis that could eventually be the equivalent of a Pap smear for breast cancer. Dr. Feldman anticipates that the intraductal approach will ultimately be used to treat early breast cancer as well as ablating the milk ducts to prevent cancer development for high-risk women as an alternative to mastectomy.
A leader in minimally invasive breast cancer surgery, Dr. Feldman was instrumental in developing the transmammary axillary lymph node evaluation (TANE) procedure, which requires only a single incision for lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node biopsy. He is also an expert in oncoplastic skin-sparing and nipple-preserving mastectomy.
His research interests are focused on preventing the disease through a better understanding of environmental toxins linked to breast cancer, including chlorinated pesticides, PCBs and PBDEs, and he is helping to investigate new biopharmaceutical treatments, including green tea extract and vitamin D.
Join us this week as we welcome country pop music singer songwriter, Danika Portz. Hailing from Remsen, IA., and currently residing in Nashville, TN., Danika has caught the attention of several record labels and publishers around town. Her distinctive sound and style is what sets her apart from the typical country act as her music has been described as a mixture of Mumford and Sons, Kacey Musgraves, and Katy Perry with a voice on par with Norah Jones. Lyrically grounded in country music, yet unafraid to think outside the box melodically, Danika phrases things in such a way that grabs the listener and makes them want more. In Nashville, Danika performs at the Bluebird Café as well as the historic Hotel Indigo, Douglas Corner, and Antique Archaeology (History Channel's American Picker's antique shop). Danika's current album "Set The World On Fire" is available at all good digital retailers. In addition, Danika is currently preparing for a overseas tour with Armed Forces Entertainment this month to entertain the troops. We will talk to Danika about her upcoming schedule, get a behind the scenes look at her music, feature her latest songs, and ask her to share her message for the troops. Please be sure to visit Danika Portz at http://www.danikaportz.com/ and spread the word. Fans are welcome to call in and speak live with Danika during the show (718) 766-4193. If you would like to participate in the live chat during the show, you must sign up on the show site first and then log in during the show. What does great fudge, the world’s longest porch, U.S. presidents and Hollywood have in common? Mackinac Island.
World Footprints will take you on a journey to a little known crown jewel that sits in Lake Huron between Michigan’s Upper and Lower Peninsulas –Mackinac Island (pronounced “Mack –in-aw”). The island was named by Native Americans who said that the island resembled a turtle. They gave it the name "Mitchimakinak" meaning "big turtle". The British later shortened the name to Mackinac.
Today’s show explores the island’s rich history and how that is being preserved as a National Historic Landmark. Mackinac Island was key in two battles during the War of 1812 but in the late 19th century, it became a popular summer colony. The island still maintains its old world charm and is known for its variety of architectural styles, including the famous Victorian-style Grand Hotel; fudge; and its ban on almost all motor vehicles. (Golf carts are allowed but only on the golf course.)
Hollywood discovered the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island and it was the setting of two feature films: This Time for Keeps (1946) and Somewhere in Time (1979). Mackinac Island has been written about and visited by many influential writers including Mark Twain and Henry David Thoreau.
As we'lll hear, U.S. Presidents and politicians have enjoyed respites on Mackinac Island. The Grand Hotel has honored these visits by designing some staterooms with the assistance of a few former First Ladies.&nb
The Flagging of Union Springs, Alabama, Preserving Our Heritage
Confederate’s Most Wanted!
We are going to Union Springs on the 20th instead of the 19th. There is only one hotel, and for safety reasons, I feel the 20th would be better. We will meet one block from City Hall behind the Union Springs Nutrition Center, at 204 Baskin Street North. We will first have pray, and Tim Kent, a great speaker will speak. Others whom wish to speak can, but I ask that we keep it clean and ...show these people we have class. The media will be there so we need to look good, and Union Springs look bad, which Mr. Penn has already accomplished. We will make our demands and see where we get, since you cannot predict what will go on. We will sing “Dixie”. I hope this is a success a lot of people will be watching us. This is our chance to make a Stand and show others we are tired of being walked on. God Bless the South, and God Bless all of you who care and come to support your Heritage. Justin Burton.

Samiyyah Saafir-Muhammad was born Jacqueline Glover in New York City in 1951. After spending her early years in foster care, moving four times before the age of three, she settled in with her aunt, following her father’s passing.
While still in elementary school Samiyyah took an interest in helping other students do well, joining “The Future Teachers’ Club” in the fifth grade. As a high school student, Samiyyah became aware her people’s struggle for freedom—witnessing civil rights demonstrations, protests, assassinations and riots—and decided she wanted to help somehow. It was in this atmosphere that she went off to Northeastern University in Boston where she majored in Education. Her stay there was short-lived, however, as she was introduced to the teachings of The Honorable Elijah Muhammad and thereafter joined the Nation of Islam. Within the Nation of Islam’s Muhammad University, Samiyyah underwent educational training and worked as a teacher’s assistant.
Since 2005, Samiyyah has had the privilege of serving as the Directress at Muhammad University of Islam in Atlanta, which serves students from Pre-K to the eighth grade. She has been blessed to carry on the 84-year educational tradition, which was started by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and his brave followers in the 1930’s.
A widow after 35 years of marriage, Samiyyah presently enjoys the blessing of her and her husband’s nine children: six sons and three daughters, all of whom attended or are attending HBCUs. Samiyyah has been a mother to not only her nine children, but also to her two stepchildren, her nieces and nephews, her eight grandchildren and countless other children and adults in the community who come to her for advice, wisdom and guidance. Affectionately called MamaMiyyah, Samiyyah’s house is never empty.
The human being must consider it his/her duty to enjoy the abundance of his/her life, if it is a kind of life which is righteous and evolutive. But, in order to achieve the abundance of the provision, the creation and maintenance of a neutral-positive-equalised attitude is necessary; consequently, it must never be forgotton that a gloomy attitude constantly chases away the abundance and the prosperity.
