Dr. Karen will be interviewing Dr. George Gonzalez, founder of Quantum Neurology Rehabilitation.
Dr. George Gonzalez's life’s work was uncovered through the journey of his wife’s spinal cord injury and recovery. One day his wife returned home from a massage session, barely able to walk or move the bottom half of her body. In one session with Dr. Marc Pick, D.C. a Doctor of Chiropractic who was well versed in neurology, she was able to walk again.
This experience revealed the amazing healing power of the Nervous System. Dr. Gonzalez immersed himself in the study of neurology and used his background in martial arts and chriopractic study to expand his thinking.
He successfully developed a customized healing technique that engages the natural healing powers of the nervous system called "Quantum Neurology Rehabilitation." He has been teaching these techniques around the world for over 10 years and has written four books on such healing techniques and practices.
Chiropractic neurology has been getting added press lately via hockey star, Sidney Crosby, who has been treated successfully for concussion symptoms by chiropractic neurologist, Ted Carrick. Carrick claims that he can treat a variety of brain disorders with manipulation along with targeted exercises. There are miraculous testimonials from people who have had their eyesight and hearing restored, along with those who have recovered from being in a coma.
Dr. Mark Friedman, a chiropractic neurologist who trained under Dr. Ted Carrick, uses the body, adjustments and the environment to bring about improvements to your health. He treats the musculoskeletal system as it interacts with the neurological system to improve your quality of life.

Concussions are getting much-needed attention from the press, especially given the short and long-term cognitive loss, early-onset dementia, physical disability and even death resulting from traumatic brain injury (TBI).
One newly recognized specialty is chiropractic neurology, that had been used by hockey star Sidney Crosby recently. His chiropractic neurologist, Ted Carrick, uses a specific treatment for TBI treatment.
Chiropractic can be more then adjusting the subluxations in your body. Chiropractic neurology is an excellent example of why we need science-based practices to treat serious brain injury.

Curing vision loss, growing new skin for burn patients, growing blood vessels, and curing neurological diseases. These are a few of the proposed benefits from stem cell therapy. Embryonic stem cell research has been a source of political debate and controversy, but adult stem cells exist throughout our body after embryonic development and there is some evidence to suggest that they can differentiate to become other cell types. This potential capacity for adult stem cells to be instructed to specialize interests scientists and researchers who hope it will lead to a cure for Parkinson's and other neurological diseases.
Separating stem cell fact from fiction will be the role of my guest, Dr. Juan R. Sanchez-Ramos, Movement Disorders Professor and Researcher, Department of Neurology, USF Health, Tampa, Fl. Dr. Ramos’ Clinical interests include: neurodegenerative diseases with focus on Huntington’s and Parkinson's disease. His research interests include: neurodegeneration, neurotoxicology and adult stem cell biology. Dr. Ramos is the Medical Director for the Parkinson Research Foundation, and provides monthly Ask the Doctor lectures at its community based program, Parkinson Place in Sarasota, Florida.

Many people have an issue with anger, frustration, lack of time and are always wrapped up in their own lives to make time for others. Two worlds collide with this aspect for the brain injured: 1. Communication with others to understand what survivors go through. 2. Caregivers, friends, and loved ones need to listen with an open mind.
PATIENCE IS NEEDED TO MOVE FORWARD.
Listening skills are something most people in our lives need to improve. Strategies are there for learning how to improve these communication barriers. Individuals with brain injuries may not be noticeable to the naked eye but if a common trait by people to stop, listen and ask open ended questions; the frustation and anxiety easily subsides for caring and empathy.
