Talking BATES MOTEL with Outstanding NESTOR CARBONELL (DARK KNIGHT, LOST)

    in Paranormal

In BATES MOTEL, the PSYCHO prequel series on A&E (Mondays at 10pE/P), the astonishingly flexible NESTOR CARBONELL plays Sheriff Alex Romero, riding herd over White Pine Bay, the unhinged drama's fictional setting.

Romero is the "moral" center of the town, although morality is relative in this upscale human sewer. Imposing and discerning, Romero got involved in Norma Bates' life after an unfortunate incident at the motel early in season 1. "I am the last person who you want on your bad side, Mrs. Bates," he intoned with stoney seriousness.

This season he has become - perhaps against his better judgment - even more involved with the Bates, residing at the motel after his house was torched by a reckless local drug kingpin, and he has become friendly and uneasily familiar with Norma.

Nestor Carbonell was born in New York City and variously raised in Mexico, Venezuela, Florida, Connecticut, the Bahamas, and London. He graduated from Harvard University with a degree in English, where a first-year drama course led to his interest in performing.

Nestor is most often recognized for his integral role in the acclaimed series LOST as the iconic Richard Alpert. This role, as well as his turn as Mayor Anthony Garcia in Christopher Nolan's THE DARK KNIGHT series has shown Nestor's versatility, range, and complexity as an actor.

His additional TV credits include RINGER, CANE, HOUSE, SCRUBS, MONK, and SUDDENLY SUSAN, for which he earned two ALMA Awards for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series. Nestor currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife, actress Shannon Kenny, and their two sons.

Leo Santa Cruz vs. Abner Mares Premier Boxing Champions ESPN Preview

    in Sports

On this episode, our guest list includes Angel Heredia and Brandon Rios.
Leo "El Terremoto" Santa Cruz and Abner Mares headlining Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on ESPN Saturday, August 29 from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.

The long-awaited battle is considered to be one of the most evenly matched fights in the sport and fans can look forward to the best that boxing has to offer on basic cable as Premier Boxing Champions returns to ESPN for its third installment on the network.

Fitting in with the prevailing notion that this bout is a true 50-50 fight, the prognosticators were almost evenly split on their fight night predictions, with Santa Cruz slightly edging out Mares by a count of just 19 to 18 with two undecided.

The predictions were razor thin in every regard as current and former fighters favored Mares by a count of seven to five while trainers favored Santa Cruz by a margin of five to two with journalists split evenly having nine select each man.

Overall more experts believed Santa Cruz would win by knockout with a five to three advantage while Mares was picked more times to win by decision with a narrow 15 to 14 edge.

  • Weekend Review Saul Rodriguez Ivan Morales Victor Pasillas

    in Sports

We will recap this weekend's action, and Mario makes his response rap debut lol.
Unbeaten lightweight Saul “Neno” Rodriguez (18-0-1, 13 KOs), of Riverside, California, hammered out an eight round unanimous decision against Ramsey Luna (12-4, 5 KOs), of Corpus Christi, Texas, on Saturday night at the Churchill County Fairgrounds in Fallon, Nevada. Good action fight. The Robert Garcia-trained Rodriguez won by scores of 79-73, 78-74, 80-72.

Unbeaten super bantamweight Victor Pasillas (11-0, 4 KOs) from East Los Angeles, scored a third round TKO over Andres Tapia (8-5-2, 2 KOs) of Mexicali, Mexico, in an eight-rounder. Southpaw Pasillas dropped Tapia in round one. He then battered Tapia to a knee in round three. Tapia was kept on his stool after round three.

The 23-year-old brother of legendary world champion Erik Morales went down 97-93 on two scorecards, whilst a third judge gave ‘El Terrible II’ a draw - which wasn’t enough to keep the southpaw’s unbeaten run intact.

Morales had previously gone 28-0 and looked to be on the fast track to a world title shot, although will have to rethink his plans following a gutsy display by Jimenez - who improved his record to 20-11-2 and may have earned a high-profile rematch.

Danny Garcia extended his unbeaten record to 31 fights with a ninth-round TKO of Paulie Malignaggi on Saturday evening as part of the second annual event of Premier Boxing Champions on ESPN in front of 7,237 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Garcia had come off three controversial fights against Mauricio Herrera, Rod Salka, and Lamont Peterson, respectively. It’s been a continuation of shortcomings that have put Garcia into this precarious position. Now a full-fledged welterweight, Garcia had to prove his worth in the ring on Saturday.

Timothy Bradley vs Jessie Vargas Review Bradley Survives Bizarre Finish

    in Sports

In his first step up to the welterweight division last night, WBA World super-lightweight champion Jessie Vargas (26-1, 9KO’s) suffered his first career defeat at the hands of Timothy Bradley (now 32-1-1, 12 KO’s) in Carson, California.

The young Mexican-American was out-hustled and out-punched over twelve rounds by the tenacious Bradley, who diminished Vargas’s advantages in height and reach by immediately countering single shots with clusters of rapid combinations.
