This week your favorite lady geeks review "Lucy" starring Scarlett Johanneson and directed by Luc Besson. Tune in to find out if Mr. Besson has given us another timeless, kick-ass femal heroine or if he should have let this one stay on the shelf. Below is the synopsis from IMDb
"A woman, accidentally caught in a dark deal, turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic."
We're back! This week your favorite geeky ladies review "The Maze Runner" starring the kid from MTV's Teenwolf abomination, the kid from "We're The Millers" and that kid from Game of Thrones. Based on the YA novel of the same name, "The Maze Runner" is the story of Thomas, a boy who awakens in an elevator and is deposited in a Lord of The Flies type compound filled with other mildly dirty, yet impossibly well-coifed teenage boys. The boys can't remember anything about their previous lives (except their names) or how they arrived in "The Glade". They only know their one shot at escape is through the imposing, monster-filled Maze that surrounds their compound. Tune in to find out if this sci-fi action flick is worth your hard earned money or if you should save your $14 and just read the book.

Science vs. Spirituality: A Supernatural Dilemma
No thinking human being disregards or disrespects the role of science and its innumerable contributions to humankind. However, its legitimacy does not negate the beliefs of those who seek truth and understanding beyond the narrow confines established by a community with a tendency to dismiss anything that cannot be proved by its current methodology. Such is the case with skeptics who null and void all supernatural experience, as if it is not a part of the grand equation. Perhaps those who remain closed to the possibilities should consider the potential for discovery; the virtual foundation of all scientific inquiry. Its existence is not predicated upon the say-so of others. Rather than declaring paranormal activity an illusion perpetrated by the imagination on itself, or some complex mind/body interaction, consider another explanation. A suggestion: perhaps the time has arrived for the scientific-minded among us, those who frequently attempt to invalidate such experience, to consider that they might not yet grasp the notion.
Is it entirely implausible that “reality” is more fluid and malleable a concept than science allows? Case in point: The Deep Field. In 2004 NASA aimed a camera, The Hubble Space Telescope, into what they presumed to be “dark space”, a black void in the cosmos. It was not expected to yield any particular return on the effort. Instead, what was revealed through a series of photographs expanded the human consciousness in unimaginable ways, fundamentally altered by a burgeoning concept of the Universe. Scientists gasped while the rest of us stared in wide-eyed wonder.

This week, the Black Geeks review "The Rover" directed by Aussie auteur David Michod. "The Rover" is the story of one unnamed man's desperate attempt to track his stolen car through the Australian outback in a dystopian near future. Along the way, the man, played by a terrifying Guy Pearce, meets a disparate assemblage of unsettling characters all just as desperate as him. His relationship with Rey, an almost unrecognizable Robert Pattinson, begins as a hostile alliance and develops into something much more. The film culminates in a surprising and touching end. This is not George Miller territory though the comparisons seem unavoidable. Tune in to find out if you need to see this movie in the theatres RIGHT NOW, or if you can just pop in your copy of Mad Max and call it a night.
