"No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background or his religion.  People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to learn, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite."            By Nelson Mandela

Green Bay Packers report card 2015 - Wide Receivers and Tight Ends

    in Sports

The Green Bay Packers entered the season with high expectations, and the wide receiver corp was one of the strengths. However, Jordy Nelson tore his ACL, in the preseason. This meant that someone would need to step up and take over the role as the go to guy. The logical choice was Randall Cobb, but early in the season it was Aaron Rodgers looking for James Jones. Jones picked up were he left off before leaving in free agency. As the season went on, Jones cooled off and was not much of an impact in the playoffs. DeVante Adams entered his second year with high expectations after a spectacular post-season in 2014. He was riddled by nagging injuries and ended the  year with 50 catches, but only one touchdown. After re-signing with the Packers, Randall Cobb was suppose to be a perfect compliment to Nelson. With Nelson gone, Cobb struggled to get open and never got on the same page with Rodgers. Cobb ended the season as the top receiver with 79 catches for 829 yards. The Packers drafted Ty Montgomery and as he saw his role increase his season ended with injury. Montgomery put in the work in practice and was earning praise from the veteran Nelson. Jared Abbrederis and Jeff Janis had a hard time finding the field but were forced into action during the playoffs due to numerous injuries.

Andrew Quarless and Richard Rodgers were the top two tight ends. Rodgers may have saved the season with his hail mary catch, but did not give the Packers a dominant presence at tight end. He finished the year with a modest 58 catches and tied Jones for the team lead with eight touchdowns. Quarless had his season end early due to injury.

Muhammad and Jesus Friends? - What are we doing to our children?

    in Pop Culture

Hr1  Hillary says she's a Christian & person of faith. Hmmm? How about a little evidence please.

The Bible isn't a feel-good book or a campaign tool to get voters. It's a guidebook for living! They all claim to be Christian when stumping in the Bible belt. That's called "pandering!" Check their voting record and see if their actions line up with God's Word. What's wrong with judging others? Jesus said to do it!

HuffPo says Christians should accept Muhammad as a prophet. Show me that in the Bible.

Hr2  Speaking of racism... Rutger's professor says God of the Bible is an a**hole, white supremacist.

Are we being too soft on kids rather than prepping them for real life!

Catherine Zeta-Jones complains there aren't enough movie roles for women over 40. Really?

Should citizens be allowed to chase down a police officer for speeding!

Engineering course at UMass builds LGBTQA-themed light displays. Do we have to break every discipline down into separate courses?

Hr3  Mandatory condom hand-out for 11-year-olds in San Francisco. No, parents, you cannot opt them out of it!

Dr. Michelle Skeen talks millennials, the real world, and communications skills. We live in a more competitive world now, and there's a lot more for people to deal with.

What are we doing to our children? Have you seen the "encouraging" slogans on the condom packages?

Stop looking for differences & look for similarities. Relationships!

When we connect with people and animals, it positively affects our hormones.

And what about those trans-species? Why aren't they being called out for mental illness so they can get some help? It's not healthy to encourage someone dissociate from who they really are.

Green Bay Packers report card 2015 - Quarterbacks and Running Backs

    in Sports

The Green Bay Packers were one of the pre-season favorites to be playing in Super Bowl 50. Jordy Nelson was injured during a pre-season game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, that did not stop the Packers from jumping out ot 6-0 start going into their bye week. Even though they were not playing their best football, the optimism was high that the offense would start clicking. The next two weeks would be against the eventual Super Bowl participants. The Denver Broncos exposed a way to rattle the Packers and their defense dominated the Packers enroute to a 29-10 victory. The following week, in Carolina, the Packers dug a hole and a comeback feel short as they lost 37-29. The rest of the season was a bumpy up and down road. A hail mary in Detroit may have saved a playoff berth. The Packers lost to the Minnesota Vikings, in week 17, ending their string of four consecutive division titles.

Aaron Rodgers is one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL and had to get used to Tom Clements calling the plays early in the season. With Jordy Nelson done for the year, Rodgers had to find another go to guy. Early in the season James Jones was the target. As the season rolled on, no receiver stepped up and it looked like Rodgers lost confidence in his receivers. Rodgers finished below a 100 quarterback rating for the first time since time since 2008. That was his first year as a starter.

A good running game can help a passing game. The Packers had a hard time finding a consistent running game. Eddie Lacy surpassed 1,000 yards in his first two seasons. In 2015, Lacy carried the ball 59 times less than 2014 and finished with 758 yards and only three touchdowns. As Lacy struggled, James Starks had career highs in carries and yards. Starks fumbled four times which was one less than he had in his five previous seasons with the Packers.

Tonight we grade the Packers quarterbacks and running backs. Listen in and call the show.

From Ted Thompson to Mike McCarthy where did the Packers go wrong this season?

    in Sports

The Green Bay Packers were a Super Bowl favorite as training camp started. In a preseason game, in Pittsburgh, Jordy Nelson tore his ACL and was lost for the year. This was a big blow, but it should not have derailed an offense that is led by MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The Packers drafted two young cornerbacks, in the NFL Draft. Dom Capers was still searching for middle linebacker and used All-Pro Clay Matthews in that role. The defense did not dominate, but kept an inept offense in a number of games.

Minnesota ended the reign of the Packers as NFC North Champions by defeating them at Lambeau Field, in Week 17. The Packers entered the playoffs rolling the wrong way. After starting the season 6-0, they finished 10-6 and had to go on the road as a wildcard team. The Packers defeated the Washington Redskins and then faced Arizona in the Divisional round. A second hail mary kept the season alive until overtime. The defense allowed a big play, and the Cardinals scored the game winning touchdown.

With the seaon over and no Lombardi Trophy coming back to Green Bay, what changes need to be made. Evan and Troy will discuss a recent article by Bob McGinn.
