Policy solutions and hope. That is what I hope to offer. I share with you the keynote speech from Friday evening's training event, Peggy Flanagan, Exec. Dir of Children's Defense Fund.
Yesterday it was announced that the Grand Jury in Ferguson decided to not indict the officer responsible for the death of Michael Brown, an unarmed teenager who was shot six times by that police officer who claimed that he feared for his life.
A little less than 8,245 days ago I wrote a poem entitled, "Never Again" because I was in Los Angeles at a Laker game the night the riots started. And, as the days went on, I was getting a little tired of the pundits giving space to Pres. Bush who called the rioters, "thugs and crooks."
Rioting is wrong, but let's keep King's words in mind as we witness the reaction to the decision in Ferguson.
Martin Luther King --- as quoted by Amy Goodman on Democracy's Now coverage posted on youtube.com today: "It is not enough for me to stand before you tonight and condemn riots. It would be morally irresponsible for me to do that without, at the same time, condemning the contingent, intolerable conditions that exist in our society. These conditions are the things that cause individuals to feel that they have no other alternative than to engage in violent rebellions to get attention. And I must say tonight that a riot is the language of the unheard."

On Monday November 24th the Grand Jury chose not to indict Ferguson, Mo., police officer Darren Wilson for any crimes related to the death of 18-year-old Michael Brown in August.
Wilson, who is white, shot and killed Brown, who was unarmed and black, in an Aug. 9 incident that has stoked anger and debate in Ferguson and beyond.
Public reaction was both swift and mixed, with reports of police using smoke to disperse crowds in some areas, while in others, protesters marched peacefully. Close to where Brown was killed in Ferguson, police officers were reportedly hit with rocks, bottles and batteries. A patrol car was set on fire.

"Ferguson". That word carries many new meanings for me as it surely will for our society going forward. It conjures up many subjects considering what has gone on there right before our eyes. I read an open letter today that my media brother Nick Bernabe made me aware of found here: http://www.marchforward.org/veterans_appeal_to_national. There were other letters and calls to various groups and organization as we all have seen. Tonight we will discuss Fergosun. The Grand Jury, the protests, the Missouri State Constitution, recent police shootings, the growing concerns of the Militarization of our Police Force, the way Mainstream Media covers protests, as well as the recent history of protests in our country. Joining me tonight will be Attorney Catherine Bernard. Catherine is an activist, former political candidate and an advocate of Constitutional Government, Long time Activist, Coffee Party Newsroom Editor and Radio Host, Bobby Rodrigo's new show on "I Take LIBERTY With My Coffee" on Coffee Party USA Radio every Tuesday at 8:30PM. He advocates engagement, coalitions and continues to point out that the Constitution is the Rule of Law in our land and why it should remain so. His disdain for Money in Politics, the Political Party Machine and partisan blind allegiance is on full display as he advocates against the erosion of our Constitutional Protections in the name of corruption and tyranny. "If we focused on following the Constitution we would solve many of the ills of our society.” Offering a long list of guests from Political Organizations, Activism, Media and Artists Bobby invites you to join him every Tuesday at 8:30PM on Coffee Party USA Radio.
The Nominated show for the 2014 Radio season award by World Soccer Talk Our Clubs, Leagues Players, National Team and other fabulous moments. Recapping the first leg of the Conference Finals as Los Angeles Faces Seattle & the Red Bulls face the New England Revolution.

Tonight's special guest host is Barbara Ochoa from San Francisco, a returning NAASCA family member who has been with us several times. That's because Barbara (aka Petra Luna) has a special mission, one which we share with her here at NAASCA. Each year for the past three years, Barbara has produced a series of events celebrating what's become known as Male Abuse Awareness Week (MAAW -- the first week of December). Each year, recognizing that young males have an especially tough time even talking about being abused as kids, Barbara reaches out to this frequently undeserved group with videos, music events, dance and special guest appearances (Help4Guys.org). She encourages victims of abuse to seek help, justice and recovery through her music and nonprofit organization, the P.Luna Foundation. Barbara will be joined tonight by her guests Patrick Donaldson and DeWayne Watts. Patrick is engaged in revealing Male Military Spouse abuse issues and manages the web site www.MachoSpouse.com. DeWayne is the author of several books including the novels "The Boy in The Wood" and "David's Mark" and writes a blog at www.DeWayneWatts.com, where one can keep up to date on all his current projects. Join us to discuss these and other issues pertaining to Male Abuse Awareness Week.
