Senator Leah Vukmir is my guest on The Earl Hall Today. Senator Vukmir represents the residents of the 5th Senate District, which includes all or parts of Brookfield, Elm Grove, Milwaukee, New Berlin, Wauwatosa, West Allis and West Milwaukee.
Today Senator Vukmir and I will discuss two major issues that are at the top of mind for many in Wisconsin as a whole.
The Prevailing Wage law has been in the news for a while now. The debate on allowing Unions to dictate wages on government projects as well as the $15 an hour minimum wage is divided right down party lines.
K-12 school funding issues has had Senator Vukmir in the news most recently last week at a meeting in Wauwatosa.
These issues of economics, jobs, and education are two of many topics that Senator Vukmir is very passionate about.

Naturally there will be the "usual" stuff, if that's what you call usual. In addition, we will have Arizona State Senator Kelli Ward as a guest. Ms. Ward will tell us her thoughts on the new Republican party as well as other issues being addressed in the state legislature and her thoughts on a national level. As we always do, we'll put the real issues out front and throw the political correctness out the window.
The show starts at 7:30 CDT and Ms. Ward will be on-air at 8:10. Tune in and listen as the boys from Oklahoma start talking politics with the new faces in the landscape. Visit our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/tgiftheradioshow for updates and a bio on Ms. Ward.
We look forward to the show and hearing what all of you have to say.
In this episode of Bringing Voices To Power I talk with one of Alabama's most powerful politicians former Senator Lowell R. Barron. Barron is a former Democratic politician, businessman who was a member of the Alabama Senate, and represented the 8th District since 1982. He was elected President Pro Tem of the Alabama Senate from 1999 to 2007, and after having served seven terms in the state Senate, was defeated by 628 votes in the 2010 general election. Barron represented Alabama's 8th Senate district which includes all of Jackson County and parts of Dekalb and Madison Counties. He was elected Mayor of Fyffe in 1968, a position he held until 1982, when he was first elected to the Alabama Senate. After his first year in the Senate, he was not selected as the Democratic nominee. Subsequently, he waged the state's first and only successful write-in campaign for the Alabama Legislature and won the Democratic nomination. He encourged people to write in "Lowell Barron" with the "itty bitty pencils" which his campaign distributed, and his write-in campaign still stands as one of the most successful in American history. While the Senate district contained three counties (DeKalb, Jackson and parts of Madison), he recieved write-in votes in 26 of Alabama's 67 counties.
