The Becky Book Club Talk Live Radio Show features The Life You Want one of hundreds from my Nook Book collecion. The featured segment of The Life You Want is Freezing Thoughts a powerful demonstration of the power of one's mind. Murphy is the young Irish man who works at a slaughterhouse and makes a decision to go into the freezer to get a bite to eat. Murphy like the rest of the crew knows that the door on the freezer is not working. The moment he goes into the freezer to get a bite, the door closed and locked behind him. Murphy immediately panicks, because he knows anyone in it for longer than three hours would freeze--and there he was stuck in the freezer with only a t-shirt on him.
The following morning the boys come to their shift to find Murphy laying there frozen. An autopsy revealed that Murphy had indeed froze to death. The day Murphy died the manger had checked the freezer and seen that it was broken and had it scheduled to be fixed the morning Murphy was found. The night that Murphy froze, the freezer never dropped below room temperature. Murphy believed the freezer would freeze him! Does that mean that YOUR belief have the power to dictate your life. What happens when your belief change?

"The Mad Scientist of Sports" Nick Ficorelli returns. However, this is not the average everyday sports show he is bringing back to the air waves. "The Mad Scientist" has created his own personal sports lab, and you, the audience, as well as many of his special guests, will be his test subjects. He will throw theories out, and you never know where they will be coming from. He will keep everyone guessing, and he will open his lab to any and all comers. Be prepared for "mad science" of sports at its best.
This week on "The Mad Scientist's Sports Lab", our special guest will be Steve Gallo (@SteveGalloNFL), NFL Analyst for USA Today's The Huddle and a Member of the PFWA. Also on the show, we have Allie Fontana (@AllieFontana) back for her "Allie's Fantasy Alley" segment at 10:00pm EST, ESPN Sacramento's Ray Harris (@MrMojays) and Right On Q's Quinn Jordan 11:00pm EST for some NFL talk, and The Student Section's (@TheStudentSect) Terry Johnson (@SectionTJ) at 11:30pm EST to talk about upcoming bowl games, the College Football Playoffs, and the Coaching Carousel.
The beacons are lit, the experiments will be plenty, the test subjects are ready, and "The Mad Scientist's Sports Lab is open for business.
There is no disputing statistics. They are gathered from events, not "scenarios". They are made up of real people, real lives, real deaths. The steady decline of mental health facilities, mental health workers and mental health budgets has left far too many outside the help they need. One out of three people will experience some sort of mental health issue in their lives. Do you think that adequate services should be available for these episodes? Or do you agree with the "modern" methods of eliminating services and pretending the problem doesn't exist? Media, and by reflection the general public, tend to marginalize people who don't fit the "norm", whatever the hell that is. What if it is your loved one, your friend, yourself that needs the help required to regain your direction and focus?
Kelly Thomas. Martin Hall. Ashley Smith. Jeffrey Towe. Teresa Sheehan. Barbara Stewart. James Popkowski. Bartolo Ford. Thousands more like them. Who are these people? They are people who needed help but none was available. They were left to deal with police. We know how police deal with "non-compliance". Most of the time, it is "Obey or Die". But thankfully, not all.
If law enforcement is forced to become front-line mental health workers, why are they not being instructed how to deal with these circumstances? CIT (Crisis Intervention Training) is slowly becoming the standard. Budget restraints are the excuse being used to delay and deny it. What has to change to help save lives and prevent social chaos from protests?
