There has been a lot of discussions lately about beauty pageants and their negative effect on young contestants, especially young girls. The question is are beauty pageants any different from sports for kids? What are the pros and cons of each. We weigh in on this hot pageant topic.
Cliff Stewart, Wayne Wright and Jynel Gaulden of the Colorado exoneration firm A Just Cause, discuss what happens when the wheels of justice trample unbridled over the rights of innocent Americans.
Although the American system of justice is the most-respected worldwide, it is still a system designed, and operated, by humans, which means it's not perfect. Cliff, Wayne and Jynel will highlight ongoing struggles against "the system" to free wrongfully imprisoned people, and what happens when justice miscarries against an innocent person.
Our Special Guests for tonight's show are Ryan Ferguson and his Dad Bill Ferguson, along with Professor Simon Cole at UCI Social Ecology School. They will all be sharing their thoughts on the impact of kids being incarcerated and released back into society, as adults.

Warrior Talk Radio with GI Jenn & Jeff Gonzales is honored to bring you the first in a series of MILITARY HISTORY episodes. Tonight, we will air A Tribute to those in and effected by the Beirut Bombing, 1983.
On 23 October 1983, a suicide bomber attacked the building serving as a barracks for the 1st Battalion 8th Marines (Battalion Landing Team - BLT 1/8), the death toll was 241 American servicemen: 220 Marines, 18 sailors, and three soldiers, making this incident the deadliest single-day death toll for the United States Marine Corps since World War II's Battle of Iwo Jima, the deadliest single-day death toll for the US military since the first day of the Vietnam War's Tet Offensive, and the deadliest single attack on Americans overseas since World War II. Another 128 Americans were wounded in the blast. Thirteen later died of their injuries, and they are numbered among the total number who died.
Tonight, we will be looking at several aspects of the bombing... Who was behind it, the SOP at the BLT, the after-action report and of course, we will be talking to friends and family about the WARRIORS who lost their lives and the heroics of those who tried to save their brothers-in-arms.
Please join us for this special A Tribute to those in and effected by the Beirut Bombing.

When talking about sexuality and young people in our culture, we are much more comfortable discussing disasters (teen pregnancy, for example), disease (HIV and other STIs), and dysfunction (coercive sex, etc.). It's much easier for us to talk about what we DON'T want for our kids' sex lives than about what we DO want. In my work with parents, we ultimately get to the hope that kids:
Will appreciate their own bodies
Will express love and intimacy in appropriate ways
Will enjoy sexual feelings without necessarily acting on them
Will practice health prevention, such as regular checkups and breast or testicular self-exams
When they are mature enough to act on their feelings, will talk with a partner about sexual activity before it occurs, including sexual limits (theirs and their partner's), contraceptive and condom use, and the meaning of the relationship and of relationships, in general.
These things are included in the longer list of behaviors of sexually healthy people, compiled by professionals who work in sexuality and human development. The reality is that, as parents, we want our kids to have good sex lives when they grow up—and, sometimes, better sex lives than we have had. The dilemma is finding strategies to support healthy sexual development when there is so little helpful, public discussion about the positive aspects of sexual life.
Join Zaiyah and Uptown as they discuss this and other important topics on this weeks episode.

Wearing a Blue Ribbon is the symbol of Child Abuse Awareness! Millions of abuse victims (men and women) hide the story of their experience well into adulthood. A huge number continue to suffer from pain, anger, fear, shame and embarrassment for decades. Most will agree their traumas have resulted in an inability to trust, make good decisions and have healthy relationships. But giving up the secret is often how recovery begins, one survivor talking to another. Join Bill Murray and his co-hosts, panelists and guests, many of them abuse survivors, others supporters and friends, for an informed discussion of the many important issues that surround child abuse. Anonymous calls and chat room participation are encouraged. ~~ Please see our web site at: www.NAASCA.org
