Museums are no dinosaur! Museums and new Instructional Resources

    in Education

Museums are no dinosaur! Museums and new Instructional Resources.

We've all experienced the museum as a place to go as a member of an elementary class or on a stormy weekend day. In the internet age, museums have an audience far beyond those who walk through the doors. Museums have a long history of creating resources to help teachers plan a class visit and materials for students that extend their visit into the classroom and home.

In this show, we will explore a new generation of museums that provide rich experiences for learners that leverage the museums expertise and collections to extend their reach and impact on learners. We will hear how they plan and create those assets and discuss how they have or would like to work with publishers to increase the the reach and integration of their offerings into school practices.

    Guests at the table:

President Obama came to this New Jersey city on Monday to "hold you up as a symbol of promise for the nation."Camden consolidated its city police force into a countywide police department, increasing the number of officers on the street and working to develop better relations with the city's residents. It has been designated a "promise zone," a program using federal grants to help improve public health, community policing and job creation; It is also participating in the "my brother's keeper community challenge," in which the federal government, working with state and local officials, the private sector and charities, help develop programs to keep young people in school, find jobs for the ones who graduate, and protect them all from violent crime.Jersey.com

Is slavery the blame, for the issues that Blacks face TODAY?

    in Education

Often times I hear that Black people(specifically Black Americans/African-Americans) continues to suffer TODAY, because we don't know our culture, being that everything was stripped away from us during slavery. I also hear that slavery CURRENTLY, plays a part in Black men and women socially and economically, I.E. marriage, parenting, unity, support of each other etc. Although slavery(physical sense) has officially been abolished since roughly 1865, do you think it's possible for it to be having an impact?  If so, how?

This thinking is interesting because, post-slavery has been some of the most prominent times for Blacks. Families were together, Black businesses were booming, and they were supported by other Blacks, HBCU's were being founded, musical content was more uplifting and empowering, organizations like The Civil Rights, The NAACP, Black Panthers, Women's Suffrage Group etc, were formed. If slavery has that much of an impact on our social and economic status TODAY, why didn't it affect the people of the early 1900's-mid 1900's in the same way?

WORLD WIDE AFRICA THE VOICE OF THE PAN AFRICAN MOVEMENT

    in Politics

"....it must not be in the desert, but where there is plenty of rain and much mineral wealth. We want fertile, productive land on which we can farm and provide our own people with food, clothing, and shelter. "......this government should supply us on that territory with the machinery and other If a seventh of the population of this country is black, then give us a seventh of the territory, a seventh part of the county. And that is not asking too much because we already worked for the man for four hundred years.

And in my conclusion I repeat: We want no part of integration with this wicked race of devils. But he also says we should not be expected to leave America empty-handed. After four hundred years of slave labor, we have some back pay coming. A bill that is owed to us and must be collected. If the government of America truly repents of its sins against our people and atones by giving us our true share of the land and the wealth, then America can save herself. But if America waits for God to step in and force her to make a just settlement, God will take this entire continent away from the white man. And the Bible says that God can then give the kingdom to whomsoever he pleases. I thank you.

Sex & Healing in TOTAL BALANCE

    in Psychology

Sex is a spiritual mystery that is universally challenging to explain.  It has to be personally experienced and consciously appreciated before an understanding is formed. In both Eastern and Western traditions we have a chance to explore sex, and find its regenerating and healing powers; however, we may also fall into its abusive or devaluing patterns as well.

The circulation of sexual energy through the conscious use of breath, touch, sound, and presence is a deep healing process that uses our intentionally directed sexual energy.  Expansion of the healthy life force of sexual energy throughout the body can be directed to release past traumas, repressed emotions or unhealthy belief systems that hold us back from sharing true intimacy in the present with a loved one or with our self. Once our body’s natural life force can consciously expand and release our limiting emotional and muscular armor, we can return to our natural state of liveliness, joy, and wellbeing.

Join Dr. Sadigh and his very special guest Charles Rahi Chun, creator of Somatic Sexual Wholeness, an integration of developmental psychology, somatic bodywork, sexual healing, and meditation, in an eye opening conversation about the healing powers of sex. You will also learn about this powerful healing modality at the Sex & Money seminar in TOTAL BALANCE workshop, which will be conducted at Equinox West LA on June 27-28, 2015.

As a successful actor with over 100 episodes of television and film to his credit, Rahi has also focused his attention to creating and producing transformational entertainment content which inspires the heart, touches the soul, and heals the body.
