The Narrow Gate, The Narrow Way

    in Christianity

For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction. Many theologians and people of many religions say that there are many ways to God and eternal life. The Bible does not

tell us that. In Matthew 7:13 it says, " Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." So either the Bible is wrong or there are many people out there that there eternal destiny is at stake, even some in the Christian church. This is a very important subject tonite. So please listen in tonite at blogtalkradio.com/nobetterway at 8pm CST , Sat.,March 21,2015

    in Religion

THE NARROW GATE  Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matt 7:13-14

    in Lifestyle

Anybody can be narrow-minded. It's an easy thing to do and an easy way to be if you have limited understanding of a lot of things and strong convictions on a few things.

Can it be a good thing sometimes or is it always bad AND a pain in the ass? Is it always good to be open-minded?

Israel Fast of Shiva and Tammuz

    in Visual Arts

14 Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the Lord's house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.

Fast of Shiva Asar B'Tammuz in Israel

The Fast of Shiva Asar B'Tammuz is held on the 17th day of Tammuz, which is the fourth month of the Hebrew calendar. It observes five calamities that affected the Jewish people. These are: (1) Moses broke the tablets of stone and (2) an idol known as “the Golden Calf” was erected in 1313 BCE; (3) the daily sacrificial offerings were discontinued in 423 BCE; (4) Jerusalem’s walls were breached in 69 BCE; and (5) the Roman military leader Apostomus burned a Torah scroll possibly around 50 CE just before the Bar Kokhba revolt.

    What do people do?

Many Jewish people fast from dawn until nightfall by abstaining from food and drinks. However, people who are ill or weak, children and pregnant or nursing mothers may not fast completely but only eat simple food. In addition, special prayers are recited and sections of the Torah and Haftarah (Haftorah, Haptara) are read during the morning and evening services. In contrast to some fast days, Jewish people may be permitted to wear leather and wash themselves on the 17th of Tammuz.

    Public life

The Fast of Shiva Asar B'Tammuz, also known as the 17th (or Seventeenth) of Tammuz, is not a public holiday in Israel.

    Background

The 17th day of Tammuz is a day of mourning for Jewish people. It marks the anniversary of five calamities. On this day in the year 1313 BCE, Moses broke the tablets of stone that were inscribed with the Ten Commandments and the idol of “the Golden Calf” was erected.

  • FREEDOM’S GATE: Christian civil rights call to action movement for America

    in News

Joining Kevin Fobbs, host of Standing at Freedom’s Gate, will be Rebecca Mahan and Hallie Neill.

They will discuss whether the criminalization of Christianity is the new reality in America, how it may impact every place of worship in America and what Christians need to do to defend and protect their civil rights. Join the call to action for American Christian Civil Rights on the next Standing at Freedom’s Gate podcast.

For many Christians the criminalization of Christianity was launched when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of gay marriage in June. This decision for many Christian leaders as well as four dissenting justices represented a possible disenfranchisement of Christian civil rights and was in direct confrontation with the U.S. Constitution.

The American Christian Civil Rights Movement (ACCRM) arose from the aftermath of the decision. ACCRM’s goal is the uniting of churches and Christians to defend and protect Christian civil rights. Hallie Neill, ACCRM’s director of media and communication, stressed that the organization is mounting an organized national effort to protect Christian faith, freedom and rights provided in the First Amendment.

Leo Santa Cruz vs. Abner Mares Premier Boxing Champions ESPN Preview

    in Sports

On this episode, our guest list includes Angel Heredia and Brandon Rios.
Leo "El Terremoto" Santa Cruz and Abner Mares headlining Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on ESPN Saturday, August 29 from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.

The long-awaited battle is considered to be one of the most evenly matched fights in the sport and fans can look forward to the best that boxing has to offer on basic cable as Premier Boxing Champions returns to ESPN for its third installment on the network.

Fitting in with the prevailing notion that this bout is a true 50-50 fight, the prognosticators were almost evenly split on their fight night predictions, with Santa Cruz slightly edging out Mares by a count of just 19 to 18 with two undecided.

The predictions were razor thin in every regard as current and former fighters favored Mares by a count of seven to five while trainers favored Santa Cruz by a margin of five to two with journalists split evenly having nine select each man.

Overall more experts believed Santa Cruz would win by knockout with a five to three advantage while Mares was picked more times to win by decision with a narrow 15 to 14 edge.
