The Don S. McClure Show Black History Awards Day Celebration 1998 - 2009 Black History Awards Day,
A concept given birth by admiration and respect. A concept that was inspired by those who came before me and left an indelible mark upon my mind. The very idea started after reading a few quotes by Carter G. Woodson and others like him.
Charles Chestnut, considered to be the first African American published fictional writer. One of the best known and most widely read of early African American writers, Charles W. Chesnutt published more than fifty short stories, six novels, two plays, a biography of Frederick Douglass, and countless essays, poems, letters, journals, and speeches. Though he had light skin and was of mixed race, Chesnutt self-identified as a black man, and his writing was often boldly political, openly addressing problems of racial identity and injustice in the late 19th century. and Arturo Alfonso Schomburg (January 24, 1874 – June 8, 1938), was a Puerto Rican historian, writer, and activist in the United States who researched and raised awareness of the great contributions that Afro-Latin Americans and Afro-Americans have made to society. He was an important intellectual figure in the Harlem Renaissance.
Their work took me on a journey to create something special and something that would offer just as much honor and respect for our achievements. Their efforts guided me to produce.

Father Hopper serves two Catholic Parishes in the Archdiocese of Lexington Kentucky.Tonight, Father Hopper will give his testimony of his road to the Catholic Faith.
Matthew 4:18-22 is the story of the call of the first Disciples. Today, the Lord is still calling forth men who are willing to drop everything to answer this call.
“Duc in Altum” means to “Put out into the deep” (Luke 5:4)! Here Jesus instructed Simon (Peter) to “Put out into the deep water and lower your nets for a catch.” Jesus is calling all of us to be fishers of men.
Here at Deepertruth, we set out to go forth into the deep water where we can delve into the mystery of our Holy Catholic Faith (Ephesians 3:1-3).
I am honored to have served with Father Hopper in Korea and played a small part of his coming home to the Catholic Faith.
The Virgin Mary was instrumental in calling Father Hopper to be one of her sons making him a prince of the Church (Psalms 45:17).
In answering her call, Father Hopper has chosen the higher portion of serving Christ becoming a priest in His Kingdom (Revelation 5:10).
1 Peter 2:9-10 states, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may announce the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were ‘no people’ but now you are God’s people; you had not received mercy but now you have received mercy.”
THe Searcher's Road Map is excited to have Ladamira with us today to share in meditation and conversation.
In the past 30 years, there have been many great advances in approaches and techniques geared towards the development of “The Self”. It has given many the confidence needed to “be themselves”, “accept themselves”, “trust and forgive themselves”… “be who they really are”.
However the past 10 years have seen a total revolution in the way we communicate and interact with our world. It has become very apparent – and the Internet and the Social Networks are mirroring that phenomenon – that we live as a connected organism. “The Self” is no longer enough; it is the collective that prevails, the connections, the flow and speed of information that determine our existence. “The cloud” will increasingly be where the information resides, and we tend towards being able to access it at will, with intelligence and speed, anytime, anywhere.
What a powerful metaphor… but the existential question “Who am I?” that people have asked since the beginning of time and which is nowadays acutely thrown in this modern collective context, remains a constant mystery.
