    7:15 Alicia Carr

Alicia has been an advocate against domestic violence since she was a child.  Being a child of domestic violence and seeing her mother being abused was very difficult for her to accept and understand.  It confused her more when she also found out that her aunt almost died during an incident when her boyfriend stabbed her several times.  All of this as a child, changed her life and attitude. It made her realize It could either weaken her or make her stronger. Alicia choose strength.

In January 2014 Alicia started building the domestic violence app with no idea what it would be called or what it would be.  But through faith and support from so many people, the Purple PocketBook  was completed in March 2014 and was approved by “Apple” on May 2, 2014.

    The Interpersonal Connection "Don't Quit"

    in Spirituality

Encouraging and Inspirational Words of Wisdom, Spirit and Life. "Don't Quit" When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all uphill, When the funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit Rest if you must, but don't you quit. Life is perplexing with its twists and its turns, As every-one of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about When they might have won, had they stuck it out. Don't give up though the pace seems slow, You may succeed with another blow. Often the goal is nearer than, It seems to a faint and faltering person, Often the struggler has given up When they might have captured the victor's cup; And they learned too late when the night came down, How close they were to the golden crown. Success is failure turned inside out The silver tint of the clouds of doubt And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems so far; So stick to the fight when you are hardest hit, It's when things go wrong that you must not quit!

Reader's Entertainment Radio Show Presents: Tina DeSalvo

    in Books

You'll want to tune in this Thursday, July 30th at 6pm EST. Author Tina DeSalvo joins me to chat about her books, life, and her Friend's Fight Together initiative. She enjoys writing stories where she can use her imagination, humor, empathy, and personal experiences to create characters and situations that she hopes will entertain readers. Her latest novel, Jewell: A Second Chance Novel, is Volume 2 in the series.

    Book Blurb:

Once invited into New Orleans' historic mansions to evaluate prized antiques, Dr. Jewell Duet held a coveted professorship at a top university. With her deep knowledge of Louisiana history and antiquities, she was the go-to person for anyone requiring professional appraisals. But, one hasty decision cost her both her reputation and possibly her freedom. Now, as she waits to discover if her future includes prison, Jewell knows that taking the job at Sugar Mill is necessary if she is to support her beloved grandmother who has advanced dementia.

Charming, sexy lawyer Beau Bienvenu's attraction to the intriguing historian vies with his distrust of her motives. Beau has one simple goal when it comes to the family that rescued him and made him part of their clan...protect them at all costs. He doesn't trust Jewell, nor her reason for taking the lowly job at Sugar Mill Plantation. What is she really up to? Is it possible Jewell and her quirky grandmother are there to try to profit from a Bienvenu family mystery? If so, both women are out of luck.

Jewell and Beau are at odds about almost everything. The only things they agree on are that family is everything...and that their mutual attraction is inconvenient.

Hope, Love and Second Chances Continue in the heart of Cajun Country.

  • Dr. Taffy Wagner Money Talk Matters & Own Your Health Care w/ host Kevin Hunter

    in Business

Host Kevin Hunter is proud to feature Dr. Taffy Wagner, counselor in finances and marriage.

    About Taffy:

How long have you been doing premarital financial counseling and what made you focus on marriages?

It all started back in 1995 when I met my husband Eric, who had an independent career and counseling business for juniors and seniors in high school. He was saying to high school students and parents that students could go to college and get a four year degree in less than four years without putting the family in debt. I was introduced to him by some mutual friends because he was searching for some administrative help. I met him to interview for the job and shared my background with him not really know what it was that he did and learned shortly thereafter that I had DONE with my college education what he had been attempting to teach these families. Needless to say, I got the job and began learning the ropes of career and college counseling for high school students and families.

What type of clients do you work best with?

My clients generally are sick and tired of struggling financially, know there has to be a better way and are willing to accept responsibility for their past financial decisions and are ready to move forward. They are willing to INVEST in themselves and not seeing it as buying a service. They have DREAMS and GOALS they want to achieve and know they cannot do it alone.
