Standing Strong! in the Day in which We Live Introduction, with Sharon Hughes

    in Christianity

The Introduction to our new Friday lunchtime 'interactive' Study: Encouraging Women to Stand Strong! in the Day in Which We Live. Whether married or single, working or stay-at-home, wives, mothers young and of good age, our goal is to encourage and equip today's modern woman to stand strong in faith in every area of life, and to use her gifts and talents in lasting and fulfilling ways.

Today, our world, nation, families and personal lives are being challenged as never before in history, and we all need encouragement and wisdom to stand strong in the face of difficulties, small and great, including even persecution.

In following sessions this interactive study will allow for Q & A with guests on the issues women are facing, plus Sharon's Bible Study series, "Standing Strong in the Armor of God,"  Today's show is the Introduction. Please help spread the word so more women can join us. Looking forward to Standing with You!

Celebrities NFL Celebrate PoshMommy to benefit Breast Cancer survivors

    in Christianity

Greetings to all God's people thank you for your support and prayers of this broadcast I usually do not come to you in the afternoon but today I have a special guest in the studio Nicole Jennings the CEO of PoshMommy an online boutique featuring gently-used designer wear donated by the wives and significant others of pro athletes, is kicking off its one-year anniversary during Super Bowl weekend with Celebrate in Style, a VIP shopping experience benefiting Face in the Mirror at the Montelucia Resort & Spa on Friday, January 30, from 4 - 6 p.m.  Celebrities and NFL players will be in attendance, including DJ Fluker of the San Diego Chargers, Geoff Schwartz of the New York Giants and Greg Jennings of the Minnesota Vikings.

“It’s only fitting we’re celebrating one year of The Posh Mommy on such a grand scale before the Super Bowl,” said CEO and owner Nicole Jennings.  “Celebrate in Style" Face in the Mirror is a non-profit that pampers cancer patients with relaxing facials and massages during their hospital stays.  During the month of January, a portion of The Posh Mommy’s sales will be donated to Face in the Mirror.

“Our founding mission is to emphasize the impact influential women can make by donating attire often pushed to the side in their closets,” Jennings said.  “The Posh Mommy unites women from all walks of life. This is the place where real women share their real fashion at reasonable prices while making a difference for charities like "Face in the Mirror."

    Progressive Conversation

    in Politics Progressive

Rev. Glencie Rhedrick is joined by Kristin Cabral on Women: Change Agents.

Kristin Cabral joined the PDA national board in 2013; she is an attorney-activist in Virginia. She has fought for voting rights and fair elections, including seeking to enfranchise people with past felony convictions and helping the Democratic Party with its election protection program in a state of often close elections. She was the Democrat for the U.S. House in 2012 in the swing DC suburbs of Virginia, doing unexpectedly well against an entrenched Republican incumbent on barely any time or money but with an intense field campaign that engaged the grassroots. Kristin, one of the first girls to desegregate Little League in 1974, is a lifetime advocate for women's equality, working with a number of organizations like NOW -VA, and she is from a union family and a supporter of workers. She is one of the first graduates of Head Start and put herself through college (Michigan) and law school (Harvard). Her concerns include the need for a working families agenda which pays heed to childcare issues and student loan debt -- both of which she herself has experienced.

MMSRS #28 - What does the MCRMC report of proposed changes mean to you?

    in Military

The Military Compensation and Retirement Modernization Commission (MCRMC) on Jan. 29 publicly unveiled 15 major recommendations to Congress. Host Dave Etter will field all callers on whether this spells doom and gloom or dances of joy to the military families we struggle daily to keep afloat. Number to call in: (516) 453-9167 and voice your opinions!

MMSRS is a weekly 2-hour web-based radio show, hosted by Dave Etter, focusing on the needs of men married to serving military members, both men and women. Male Military Spouses are a small niche of military spouses, comprising of only 7%-8% of all military spouses. We feel left out, usually, at support functions - especially those designed with the spouses being identified as "wives"! We get cajoled at playgrounds where our kids play, from the mommies there who think we don't belong. We are proud SAHDs, who gave up our careers to follow our spouses as they dedicate thier lives to defend our country! Here, on this show, we come together and share beer recipes, diaper changing techniques, financial discoveries - manly things, for men! Airs Fridays at Noon CT, rated R for the cussing that can occur, and available for download (podcast) immediately following each show.

Psychotropics: Killing our Families, Kids and Military Members - Lawfully

    in Politics Progressive

The pharmaceutical industry, aided by the Food and Drug Administration and congress has created a climate whereas we can be forced to take harmful drugs lawfully, or, go to jail. This is all being done in the name of profit. Foster kids, military members and others are being forced to take harmful psychotropic drugs with catastrophic results. Dr. Fred Baughman, a neurologist, will be on today to discuss the fraud of psychiatry and the pharmaceutical industry. We will examine how parents have a choice between jail and giving their kids harmful drugs. We will look at how harmful drugs are killing military members and being classified as suicide deaths. We will explore how foster care, CPS and social workers are supporting this harmful situation and threatening the families they are supposed to be protecting.
