Join me Hezekiah L. Montgomery along with my Co-Host Nichelle Johnson as I do my first Excerpt readings from my first novel REDISCOVERING KIA. We are in our last month of fundraising for REDISCOVERING KIA THE PLAY so I'm looking forward to doing something different since the book came out. People have told me that they've enjoyed REDISCOVERING KIA. So as part of our fundraising month I'm doing my first reading ever. Am I little nervous, yes, but I know that I'm going to have some fun as well as I read, talk about the reading and have discussion as well.
Rediscovering Kia was my testimony that God had me right down to be able to help others that may get caught up in sin and don't know how to get back on course to God. As I wrote there is always a light at the end of the tunnel, we and I mean us, you and me have to hold on and not give up and not worry about what others are thinking because we have a God who's waiting with His arms OPEN WIDE for us to return to Him and be a light for others.
I will say that I enjoyed the last show with all of the support t that was there to discuss the book and how it's going to be an awesome play. I'm totally siked right now with jus the thought of my first novel becoming a play. So with that say, join me as I read, ignite your interest and plug you into supporting REDISCOVERING KIA THE PLAY. And I'll see you at the Mirror...

On 25 March 1965, Martin Luther King led thousands of nonviolent demonstrators to the steps of the capitol in Montgomery, Alabama, after a 5-day, 54-mile march from Selma, Alabama, where local African Americans, the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) had been campaigning for voting rights. King told the assembled crowd: ‘‘There never was a moment in American history more honorable and more inspiring than the pilgrimage of clergymen and laymen of every race and faith pouring into Selma to face danger at the side of its embattled Negroes’’ (King, ‘‘Address at the Conclusion of the Selma to Montgomery March,’’ 121).

On March 13th, people from all over the country gathered in the small town of Selma, Alabama to commemorate 50 years of the March from Selma to Montgomery in support of the right to vote. The proposal for this historic movement was written by iconic Civil Rights Leaders Rev. James Bevel and (his then wife) Diane nash. It was Reverend James Bevel who called for the March from Selma to Montgomery on February 28, 1965; yet 50 years later, there was no celebration of them or their names hardly even mentioned in the festivities that went on last week.
In May of 2007,Rev. James Bevel was arrested in Alabama on charges of incest committed sometime between October 1992 and October 1994 in Loudoun County, Virginia. Is this a reason not to celebrate Rev. James Bevel? Should we rewrite history and pretend that Rev. James Bevel never existed because of his criminal charges?
Joining us tonight as we celebrate Rev. James Bevel and Diane Nash is the wife of Rev. James Bevel, "Helen Edmond-Bevel."
LET'S GET READY TO EVOLVE INTO HIGHER CONSCIOUSNESS...
