Join World Footprints as we take you on a journey through a national treasure—the State of Montana. We covered just a small section of this wonderful state—Glacier Country--but as you’ll discover from Part I of this series, there’s a reason why many celebrities (Ted Turner, David Letterman, among others) call Montana a “home away from home.” Our first stop through Glacier country begins in the town of Whitefish, an enchanting art and cultural center, and you’ll meet the proprietors of the Good Medicine Lodge. (One of the most extraordinary places we have ever stayed.) Whitefish is also the gateway to our second stop—Glacier National Park. We will take you deep inside Glacier National Park to share some of its charm with the help of Mike Davies of Glacier Guides. Then we’ll travel by rail on the Amtrak Empire Builder to Havre, Montana, where we’ll experience the Havre Underground, a town beneath the town. Finally, we’ll end the first part of this journey with a stop that takes us on safari (yes, a safari) on the Great Plains with Jacob Dusek of Sage Safaris.

The Jimmy Bell Story ... The Song “Saving Grace”
Born: James Allen Dzwonkowski on January 10, 1955 in Chicago Illinois.
I grew up in a two parent household until the age of 13 when my parents divorced, and enjoyed a fairly normal childhood aside from becoming rebellious once I reached my later teens.
In 1974 I joined Job Corp in Anaconda, Montana and spent a year in Big Sky Country.I fought forest fires with the crew up there, received my G.E.D. and became a certified welder. All this time still playing guitar when I wasn't studying.
Let the Craziness Begin: 1979I was introduced by a girlfriend to some musicians in Fort Collins, Colorado who had a band and needed a new lead singer. I auditioned and got the job! Can we say, all night parties, drugs, booze and living from place to place? Bars, gigs, college keg parties with hundreds of people attending to see us and other bands play. It didn't take long and I moved to Fort Collins.
Too much other stuff to list.

Do you remember that famous trial in which Oprah and Howard Lyman were sued by the cattlemen of Texas? In 1996, when Howard Lyman warned America on The Oprah Winfrey Show that Mad Cow Disease was coming to America, offended cattlemen sued him and Oprah both. Not only were Lyman and Oprah vindicated in court, but events have proved many of Lyman's predictions absolutely right. Mad Cow Disease has come to America.
Howard F. Lyman is the Mad Cowboy. He is a 4th generation family farmer (and vegan) from Montana. After 20 years of operating a feed lot, he sold his ranch and started working for farmers in financial trouble. He was a lobbyist in Washington, and ran for Congress in 1982. He is the former Director of the "Beyond Beef Campaign" & the Humane Society of the US, "Eating With Conscience" Campaign; past President of both the International Vegetarian Union, and Earth Save International, and is currently President of Voice for a Viable Future.
Musician, Maggie Malyn, will join us LIVE in the studio and we'll play some of her original music.
Laura will be calling in from Puerto Vallarta to tell us about banking in Mexico.
