This Sunday night, May 11th, 2014, we catch up with Central Illinois music legend Mike Isenberg !! Show starts at 8 pm CST..... Mike joins us at 8:15 pm CST !!
Growing up in Pekin, back in the 60's, Mike Isenberg found himself smack dab in the middle of a music scene that spawned groups such as R.E.O., Head East & Dan Fogelberg. While Mike kept himself busy with projects like The Mods, The Blues Feeling and other local bands, his greatest success of the time was yet to come.
That success came as vocalist & guitarist for The Jets. Isenberg is best known as the leader and founder of The (Pekin, Illinois-based) Jets. The Jets original roster included Isenberg, Graham Walker, Greg Clemons, Greg Wilson, and Randy Kohtz. The band’s premiere single “Be For Me” written by Isenberg in 1968 and released on the Marigold Records label in 1973 climbed to number 13 on the local WIRL chart.
Isenberg and The Jets also were included on a double album sampler on Twin Tone Records in 1979. This led to the band racking up two hits—Isenberg’s “Lover Boy” and “Paper Girl”. The album was digitally remastered and released on CD more recently. Isenberg also earned the WWCT FM 106 Basement Tapes Award in 1982.
Fast forwarding to today, Mike finds himself living in Hollywood,California. Still writing & recording, Mike's gift to the world keeps on giving. This Suday night we'll talk to Mike about " The Good 'Ol Days " as well as the music industry " machine " . Mike will also share some great insight on what it takes for bands today to make it in the music business. You'll be surprised just how easy it really is !!
Join us this Sunday night starting at 8 p.m. CST for a " MUST NOT MISS " episode of The Big Perm Show !!

in Video Games
Many of the great gaming companies that we know and love today once began as small operations with a very limited budget, having to fly by seat of their pants (and merit of their ideas). Nowadays, a lot of people are coming together and forming the same small operations in hope of one day striking it big.
This trend of Indie game development is becoming more and more popular. So much, in fact, that some larger companies are stripping down to their bare-bones to keep up with the ever-changing demand of the consumer.
This week, the GCR Crew takes a look at Indie video (and board!) games. We also peel back the layers of home-brewed table-top games (and expansions), as well as third party mods for some of the popular AAA games that exist in the market.

Ska (/'sk??/, Jamaican is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1950s, and was the precursor to rocksteady and reggae.Ska combined elements of Caribbean mento and calypso with American jazz and rhythm and blues. It is characterized by a walking bass line accented with rhythms on the upbeat. In the early 1960s, ska was the dominant music genre of Jamaica and was popular with British mods. Later it became popular with many skinheads.Music historians typically divide the history of ska into three periods: the original Jamaican scene of the 1960s (First Wave); the English 2 Tone ska revival of the late 1970s (Second Wave); and the third wave ska movement, which started in the 1980s (Third Wave) and rose to popularity in the US in the 1990s
