Something Better, Mo Betta, from victim to vocalist, Liss'n or U B a Miss'N

    in Spirituality

I took to the streets and found comfort and safety from the fellas on the corner. Their protection seemed just a little bit more tangible thus making it a little bit more real. So I joined the neighborhood gang and started to sell drugs, gang bang, and just simply got involved very early in dangerous crime activity. This behavior allowed me to get further involved with the streets taking me on a very dark and evil road where I took a turn that would take me to prison, shootouts, behave like an animal, witness 9/11, and experience the death of my daughter Layla Mari. The death of my daughter I felt at the time was so painful that it made me mentally disassociate going inward instead of outward and it caused me to seek something to numb the hurt that I felt not only from the death of my Layla, but of all the pain I had been thru prior as well. I just had to forget, so I turned heavily to substance abuse. I never expected to get as bad as I did, I just couldn't deal with what I felt, so I continued to turn even more into an animal than I had felt I already was. In May 11th, 2006 I believe that Divine Intervention stepped in and rescued me from my nightmare and graced me into the rooms od Recovery. It took 2 years for me to let go of the lifestyle (though clean and sober) and after having faith in a Sponsor and being guided by him and doing work, my heart one day was warmed at my Church in Brooklyn and I excepted the Lord Jesus Christ on June 27th 2010 and my life has never been the same! (I'll share from this point on when we go live!) PS; All links to my Social Media are just beneath this email and contacts. God bless...

    The Natural Mentoring Experience

    in Self Help

The Topic of my show tonight will be, who was H. Rap Brown?  Who were his mentors and what did he stand for in the black community during the 60's & 70's.  Did you know that H. Rap Brown changed his name to Imam Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin?  While we struggle to better understand what is happening to black people today, in America, and in today's headlines, let us take another look at what our Black Revolutionay Elders were faced with decades ago while attempting to irradicate injustices to people of color and black people in particular around the world.  Brother Muhamma show last night:  Who Did It To You, featuring Dr. James Jones III History and Prossefo Carl "Tone" Jones and Bro Lee, Hey P. Newton & Bobby Seals, founders of the Black Panther Party in 1966 were discussed at Bro Muhammad's Round Table.  I thought another of our Elder Black Panter Brothers should be discuss as well.  Now, as then, we are facing the same issues of racism and hatred called by different names, but the same evil intent to keep people of color in their "so called places".  Well, we're not having it!  The Initiative Radio Network would like to mentor people of color and imparticular black people by re-visiting our martors/mentors who gave all their energies and lives so that the children of our generation and future would have a platform to shut down and shout out injustices to our people wherever they may be in the world.  So Join us tonight, we will also be covering some of the recent events happening in Ferguson, MO and continue to mentor and instructed our families on researching our history:  "if a race has no history, if it has no worthwhile tradition, it becomes a negligible factor in the thought  of the world and it stands in danger of being exterminated." - Carter G. Woodson.

    City of Ferguson Indicted

    in Politics

The Justice Department on Wednesday called on Ferguson, Mo., to overhaul its criminal justice system, declaring that the city had engaged in so many constitutional violations that they could be corrected only by abandoning its entire approach to policing, retraining its employees and establishing new oversight. The report described a city that used its police and courts as moneymaking ventures, a place where officers stopped and handcuffed people without probable cause, hurled racial slurs, used stun guns without provocation, and treated anyone as suspicious merely for questioning police tactics.

“Seen in this context — amid a highly toxic environment, defined by mistrust and resentment, stoked by years of bad feelings, and spurred by illegal and misguided practices — it is not difficult to imagine how a single tragic incident set off the city of Ferguson like a powder keg,” AG Holder NYT

QARLive: Khaos America: A Greater Divide Than Ever? W/ @JadedQuagmire

CPAC 2015 IN REVIEW: A Greater Divide Than Ever?

    By, Jason Taylor

    3/2/2015

I went to this year’s yearly Conservative convention with an open mind, and a heart that was somewhat bruised from much of the far right rhetoric that has been endlessly blogged about, tweeted about and Facebooked about. Not to mention the 24/7 internet and AM radio lambasting of the current GOP Congress that ‘we’ elected to serve this nation.

I was quickly hit with the cold hard truth, not much had changed. If anything it had gotten much worse, even worse than I believed it ever could. The far right, were even more far out there than I once thought, and their hammering of the moderate Conservatives continued all the way up to Jeb Bush going as far as to boo him during his speech.

St. Louis Cardinals Spring Training Breakdown

    in Sports

*Yadier Molina's weight gain. Good for his defense but will it be bad for his power at the plate?

*Which prospect makes it out of came with the team? Piscotty or Cooney?

*Carlos Martinez kicks off spring training tomorrow. What are we looking for in his first spring start?

*Who is your bat in the lineup that you hope generates the real power?

*Does Pete Kozma make the club?

*What can fans expect from Randal Grichuk this season?

*The wildcard in the bullpen this year is Jordan Walden. A setup man but maybe a potential closer down the line. Like Grichuk in the Freese deal, he was the piece Mo demanded.

Gotham Talk Podcast Show #17 - "Red Hood" Ep. 17 Season 1

    in Television

A crew of five Irish American bank robbers heists up a bank with concealment over their faces and with their leader wearing a red hood, stealing from the bank itself and dispersing some of the money to ensure their escape. When Gordon and Bullock speak to the bank's employees, they realize this was a pro job and they had scouted the place last week to determine their timing. Tracking down one of the thieves from security footage, they find the crew leader Gus Floyd (Michael Goldsmith) dead and his hood gone, taken by Clyde Destro (Jonny Coyne), the new leader. Meanwhile, Oswald's is still struggling from its unsavory clientele especially once it runs out of alcohol which is sold to the club by Maroni. So Butch has cops on his payroll seize much of Maroni's supply for Cobblepot, establishing an uneasy trust between the two. The Red Hood Gang hits another bank using the same MO. With the assistance of a witness, Gordon and Bullock track down Destro, finding him wounded by a third member who took the mask and became leader. Fish meets with the prison's unnamed manager (Jeffrey Combs) as his boss, the Dollmaker, is currently away. As the manager tries to take her eyes for transplant, Fish removes her own left eye and destroys it to keep it out of their hands before passing out.
