MR. PRESIDENT WE ARE UNDER ATTACK

    in Radio

This show is an S.O.S to President Barack Obama officially notifying him that ALL African Americans are under attack. Mr. President we request your immediate attention to this matter. In the month of July alone six African American women have died in jail custody here in the United States. We are asking the DOJ to investigate the deaths of Sandra Bland, Kindra Chapman, Joyce Curnell, Ralkina Jones, Raynette Turner and Alexis McGovern. They add to the death toll of the countless men and women who have died in police custody such as Sam Dubose, Mike Brown, Freddie Gray, Eric Garner, Tamir Rice, and John Crawford, just to name a few. Our law enforcement system has repeatedly failed to treat African American people with the same dignity and respect that is afforded to any other race, and in many cases this is costing African American men, women and children their lives.

The call in number tonight is (347) 850-8390, then PRESS 1.

Indycar's Simona de Silvestro, Catholicism history and Panther conservation

    in Travel

On today’s show World Footprints explores the plight of the endangered Panther, we chat with one of the rising IZOD Indycar stars Simona de Silvestro, and we also view Catholicism through the lens with Father Robert Barron.  As a special bonus, we added some sound bytes and interviews from the DC Stop Modern Slavery walk to end human trafficking.

Panthers once roamed the entire southeastern United States; from Florida to South Carolina and Louisiana.  However, the panther was added to the Endangered Species List in 1967 and today the remaining population is isolated in South Florida.   The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is at the forefront of the Panther conservation efforts and Park Ranger Sandy Mickey from the Florida Panther & Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuges joins us today to talk about some of these initiatives.

Then, we enjoyed a chat with one of the IZOD Indycar series rising stars, Simona de Silvestro.  Simona is one of a handful of female Indycar racers and she is one of the most prominent racecar drivers on the track.   She is the first woman in Atlantic Series history to have earned the most wins and pole positions, and the IZOD Indycar Rising Star Award.  Finally, we will talk to Father Robert Barron, the Francis Cardinal George Professor of Faith and Culture at Mundelein Seminary and a priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago, about his PBS series Catholicism. This documentary illustrates the history and treasures of a global religion shared by more than one billion people around the world by exploring art, architecture, literature, music and all the riches of the Catholic tradition.

    Wanda's Picks Radio Show

    in Art

This is a black arts and culture site. We will be exploring the African Diaspora via the writing, performance, both musical and theatrical (film and stage), as well as the visual arts of Africans in the Diaspora and those influenced by these aesthetic forms of expression. I am interested in the political and social ramifications of art on society, specifically movements supported by these artists and their forebearers. It is my claim that the artists are the true revolutionaries, their work honest and filled with raw unedited passion. They are our true heroes. Ashay!

Our first guest is Linda Livingston, persussionist and drummer who is featured at AfroSolo in the Gardens Concert tomorrow at Yerba Gardens, 3rd and Mission in San Francisco, 1-3 p.m. It is a free concert (afrosolo.org). Donald Trump in Iowa: 'Drudge is amazing'

    By HADAS GOLD

    7/25/15 2:58 PM EDT

Trump had little good will for the rest of the media in his speech here in front of a packed auditorium of more than 600 people at Oskaloosa high school (with at least 400 in an overflow room). The billionaire real estate mogul opened his speech by bashing the Des Moines Register —whose reporters he had banned from the event, his team said on Friday, illlay sections ill pWe will play sctionsbecause the paper had published an editorial calling on Trump to drop out of the race.

“The Des Moines Register is standing outside too," Trump said to cheers from the audience. “It's a super liberal rag that’s not respected around here.”

(During the event, the Register’s chief political correspondent Jennifer Jacobs tweeted that the paper did in fact have a reporter inside the auditorium covering the event).

Trump said the press often misquotes him and doesn’t accurately report how many people come out to see him or how much he’s worth.

“A lot of political press is great like 30, 35 percent,” he said. “Some are so dishonest. You'll have a crowd like this and they'll say it’s miniscule.”
