Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1345

    in Self Help

Tonight's special guest is Richard Sipe from La Jolla, California, a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor who earlier spent 18 years as a Benedictine monk and priest. Now married, Richard is devoted full time to research into the sexual and celibate practices of Roman Catholic bishops and priests. That path has lead him to the study of the sexual teaching of the church and its effects on behavior - especially sexual abuse of minors by clergy - and the tangle of sexual problems that some people claim are blocking every religious agenda and destroying beyond repair the credibility of the Catholic Church in sexual matters. The Academy Award winning Best Picture for 2016, "Spotlight," featured his words as part of their investigation into clergy abuse. Richard was trained specifically to deal with the mental health problems of Roman Catholic Priests. In the process of training and therapy, he conducted a 25-year ethnographic study of the celibate / sexual behavior of that population. His study, first published in 1990, is now considered a classic. Richard has published six books that explore these themes, including A Secret World and Celibacy in Crisis.' Widely interviewed by media he's known internationally and has participated in 12 documentaries on celibacy and priest sexual abuse aired by HBO, BBC, and other networks in the United States, United Kingdom, and France. Richard has no professional sympathy for the cardinals and bishops and other ranking church officials who cover up their crimes. "Some of them are so terrible," he says. "I mean the plain lying that I've seen, bishop after bishop saying, 'No, this was never true. I don't know anything. I can't remember anything.' And sometimes the bishop just smiles. One bishop said, 'I only lie when I have to.'"

Russell Blake returns to discuss Day After Never and whatever else he wants. LIVE

    in Books

Russell Blake never follows the script and host Pam Stack isn't going to try to guess what the conversation will be about tonight.    What we do know is that Russell's new book, The Day After Never is a solid 5 stars so chances are Russell will be pimping that. And Jet.  He'll probably take over the show again and see if he can drive the host completely over the edge this time.  Politics and conspiracies are sure to pop up too.  If you're looking for a nice relaxing evening of LIVE chat about books, don't bother stopping here.   (I'm going to ask about that little Central American country he overthrew earlier this year..and I want to know why his new profile picture doesn't look at all like the previous one - who is Russell Blake  hiding from?????)

    It's never boring.

Russell has written over 40 books in 4 years and has told millions of copies.  You know where to find him but just in case - http://russellblake.com.

UFO Sightings here in the UK - Friday Night Paranormal Show

    in Paranormal

    UFOS IN THE UK

In December 1980, two members of a US security patrol at an Air Force base in Suffolk went to investigate a suspicious light in nearby Rendlesham Forest.
One of the men, Jim Penniston, claimed he saw a strange craft in the woods.“I estimated it to be about three metres tall and about three metres wide at the base,” he said. “I walked right up to it. I noticed the fabric of the shell was more like a smooth, opaque, black glass.” The object then apparently vanished, but other staff at the base noticed some strange sights over the next few days.

Former British cop Alan Godfrey believes he was the victim of an alien abduction when he was on a night patrol in November 1980. The respected policeman was suddenly startled by a brightly lit craft on the road in front of him, which he claimed was “the size of a bus. ”The UFO was 14ft tall, rotating and hovering five feet above the ground, but when the creeped-out cop tried to radio for help, Pc Godfrey found his device was dead. The next thing remembered was driving along the road again 30 yards beyond the point where he was stopped.

In 1990, two hikers in the Scottish Highlands were startled when a huge diamond-shaped object appeared in the air, where it hovered for 10 minutes before shooting off into the sky. Whilst most UFO ‘sightings’ lack convincing photo evidence, these savvy spotters managed to snap the mysterious craft. A series of 6 colour photos showed the 25-metre metallic craft with an RAF jet in pursuit, and the pictures were said to be the best ever evidence of UFO activity.

BIBLEBOOKCLUB: JESUS INTRODUCED THE HOLY SPIRIT'S COMING

    in Christianity

In Luke 24, After Jesus death and resurrection, Jesus’ followers were walking and talking about Jesus’ death, when suddenly Jesus himself came along and joined them and began walking beside them. But they didn’t recognize him, for God kept them from it. Jesus asked them what they were talking about. They said" The things that happened to Jesus was a mighty Teacher, highly regarded by both God and man, but the chief priests and our religious leaders arrested him and handed him over to the Roman government and they crucified him. And now, besides all this which happened three days ago some women from our group of his followers were at his tomb early this morning and came back with an amazing report that his body was missing, and that they had seen some angels there who told them Jesus is alive! Some of our men ran out to see, and sure enough, Jesus’ body was gone, just as the women had said.” Then Jesus said, " You find it so hard to believe all that the prophets wrote in the Scriptures! Wasn’t it clearly predicted by the prophets that the Messiah would have to suffer all these things before entering his time of glory?” Then Jesus quoted them passage after passage from the writings of the prophets, beginning with the book of Genesis and going right on through the Scriptures, explaining what the passages meant and what they said about himself. They realized Jesus was there with them. JESUS WAS ALIVE JUST AS HE SAID HE WOULD BE! FRIENDS, MANY PEOPLE INCLUDING HIS DISCIPLES SAW JESUS AFTER HE WAS RESURRECTED. HE ATE WITH THEM AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE COMING OF HOLY SPIRIT! Luke 24:49 (TLB) Jesus said “And now I will send the Holy Spirit upon you, just as my Father promised. Don’t begin telling others yet stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.”

Talking in Circles: Lugs Nuts, Tony Stewart, Richmond Review, Talladega Preview

    in Sports

On this episode of Talking in Circles, we break down the weekend that was at Richmond International Raceway. Carl Edwards moved Kyle Busch out of the way on the final lap to win his 27th career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.

Was that the correct move for Carl? Should Kyle invoke some revenge?

We'll give our Attaboys and surprises and talk about the points. Who is in danger of missing the Chase?

Also we'll discuss the news of the week: NASCAR has instituted a new lug nut rule starting this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. We'll give our thoughts on that and talk about how NASCAR can police this.

Plus Tony Stewart was fined $35k for comments about lug nuts, then NASCAR instutites the rule. Should NASCAR revoke the fine and how bad does the sport look. What made Stewart made those comments and why did the Driver's Council pay the fine?

Several media members have complained about Tony Stewart being eligable for the win at Talladega, even though he's gonna have a subsitute driver. We'll discuss our feelings on that.

Plus, it's going to be a wild weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. We'll preview the double-header weekend and take your phone calls at 917-889-8280.

Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1344

    in Self Help

Tonight's special guest is Nikki DuBose from Los Angeles, a child abuse survivor who was later abused as a young professional model. Among other things, Nikki advocates on her web site for better regulation of the modeling industry (she tells me about 40% of models have an eating disorder and that there's a lot of sexual abuse/harassment). Nikki also works closely with Matt Sandusky at the "Peaceful Hearts Foundation," where she serves on the Executive Board and is their Volunteer Director. Nikki says, "I wholeheartedly believe that full recovery is possible, but it starts with speaking out and reducing the shame and stigma that is so often attached to mental health issues." In her upcoming memoir, "Washed Away: From Darkness to Light," due out later this year, Nikki details how being sexually abused as a child led to a seventeen-year battle with serious mental health issues such as eating disorders, depression, self-harm, body dysmorphic disorder, substance abuse and sexual addictions. During her career as a professional model, she encountered a great deal of success, yet that prosperity came with a high price - one that often mirrored the sexual abuse from her childhood. Coming to a place of full healing has not been easy for Nikki, but she says, "Being an advocate is what allows me to wake up every day and feel truly alive. All of that pain that I lived with for so many years is now channeled into making a difference in society. Whatever issues you’re passionate about, use your voice and the resources you have; love yourself first and from there you can help to change the world."

Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1343

    in Self Help

Tonight's special guest is Misty Reynolds from Spokane, Washington, a NAASCA volunteer and a survivor of child hood trauma from as early as she can remember until she was 18. She'd struggled with drugs and alcohol in her teens, cleaned up briefly when she got pregnant, and had a child in her senior year. "I went through the AmeriCorps program after graduation becoming a peer model at the school," she says. "Mentoring mediating and helping my peers get out of the chaos they lived in." But that didn't last long "I picked up the bottle where my step dad left off .. still functioning day to day to life." As Misty notes, "I married my last abuser and didn't know he was a pedophile until our son was 2." She explains, "I married him so I wouldn't have to testify against him for attempted strangulation." She cleaned up briefly during her second pregnancy, but relapsed when her son was 7 months old. Eventually she sought numbness, and began using meth. I cheated on my daughter's dad with my boy's father. "The next three years are still pretty blurry except the abuse. I remember that clearly." But her trauma didn't end there. As she implies, Misty is also a survivor of domestic violence. At various times she's worked with Betty Maxwell, a DV advocate in the community where she lived. Betty wanted her help to bring other survivors into her program. "The only problem was I couldn't stop using." And no wonder. "My mom was my supplier as well as my husband. I saw no escape so I continued to use." Misty's slowly but surely building back her life now however, noting, "I haven't worked in a long time due to PTSD and barely survived my ex-husband's wrath." We know she'll do well with NAASCA.

Fighting for a Free and United Community w/ Police Commissioner Richard Ross Jr.

    in Motivation

On this much anticipated and very special Second Season Finale, the boys discuss with the Philadelphia Police Commissioner what Sen. Bernie Sanders terms "over-policing" in African American communities. How do community leaders, guardians, and role models across this great city and every city, especially young men like Nick and Erik best keep the number of "missing blacks" from increasing by incentivizing our at-risk citizens toward prosperity instead of prison.

Nick and Erik also touch on what enlivens the Commissioner most to fight for the great city of Philadelphia and what our Philadelphians must do to activate greatness inside of themselves.

It's been another epic ride. We hope to leave you all with something tangible and invigorating until we meet again in July.

Thank you Family. You're Destiny is Greatness.. because God Did It. We'll holla
