Rory Costello is a member of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR). He lives in Brooklyn, New York.
Rory has written many biographies of major-leaguers and other baseball figures for SABR's BioProject website.
He has a lot of interests when it comes to choosing his subjects, but players from Latin American balla and the Caribbean are right up there at the top.
SABR members have a variety of interests, and this is reflected in the diversity of its research committees. There are more than two dozen groups devoted to the study of a specific area related to the game — from Baseball and the Arts to Statistical Analysis to the Deadball Era to Women in Baseball. In addition, many SABR members meet formally and informally in regional chapters throughout the year and hundreds come together for the annual national convention, the organization's premier event. These meetings often include panel discussions with former major league players and research presentations by members. Oct 15, 1986: N.Y. Mets (7) at Houston (6), 16 inn. Margaret Ann Philbrick’s upcoming novel, A Minor, is a beautiful love story exploring the power of music to bring spiritual and emotional healing to those suffering from Alzheimer’s or dementia.
Join host Tami Neumann as she sits down in conversation with author Margaret Philbrick. Tami and Margaret will talk about how she came to write this book and how she did her research. Additionally, they will discuss her creative process, the role of music and dementia and the unique features of her book.
I will ask Margaret to answer the following questions on the show. Please feel free to share your responses on facebook:
What music do you love? How has music impacted your life with significance? Share a favorite musical memory.
Clive quotes Leonard Bernstein, “Music is the only art which does not require the censorship of the brain before reaching the heart.” Do you agree? Is there any other experience in lifethat fulfills this description?

In the "Clearly Greg Karam jinxed Jon Niese’s shoulder” edition, Jeffrey and Greg bemoan more DL time for the Mets southpaw, but wonder if this represents progress in the handling of pitchers. From there, we cover Murphy's all-star selection while trying to avoid discussing the usual All-Star game argle bargle, and Jeffrey gets twenty minutes to wax poetic about Marcos Molina, Dilson Herrera, Brandon Nimmo, and his recent minor league trips. Finally we answer your e-mails on Dario Alvarez and the future of the US Men's National Team, nothing out of the ordinary there of course.
Join Joe Minor LIVE on Let's Get Reel with special guest Kenny Hardin and Brad Adkins, Joe and his guest will be talking about dealing with problems and making adjustment on the water during tournaments.
