Obamacare (ACA) Minimum Wages and Veterans Needs are Priorities

    in Politics Progressive

Any elected official who feels minimum wage is irrelevant and Obamacare is irrelevant, surely has chosen the wrong job. Elected officials who blocks Veterans bills surely has chosen the wrong job. Does elected officials understand the role of government employees? Government employees by all accounts should have the best interest of their constitutents up front in their every effort. There are issues individuals can and should do on their own. There are issues government must do because people can't. When an official's state has 17% poverty and 11% unemployment and he says minimum wage is irrevelant, and Obamacare is irrevelant, exactly who is it that benefits by repealing Obamacare and from not raising wages? Exactly what does Obamacare, minimum wages and Veterans mean to your elected officials?

Who else believes that minimum wage employees are overpaid enough???

    in Politics Conservative

We have our first Democratic nomination...Hilary Clinton.  I don't think this was such a big surprise.  What was her first political move; making the case for CEO pay vs middle class pay.  She goes to Chipolte and forgets to leave a tip.  I have heard all the arguments that Chipolte is not the kind of place where you leave a tip.  Neither is Subway but if they have a tip jar I leave a tip.  Since she is championing the middle class and better pay you would think leaving a tip would have been the first thing she would have done.  I can't believe that no one in her camp bothered to do it or even mention it to her to do.  I have been told that politics is more about public perception than the actual platform.  We have a CEO in Seattle who has decided to take a pay cut so his employees can receive better pay.  I don't have a problem since it is his company and he wants to provide an incentive to maintain his good employees but it sends the wrong idea to minimum wage workers who think they are worth more than their skills indicate.  There have been other police involved shootings and people are marching for justice.  You know how I feel about that but there are a few instances where I can see it being justified.

    XL and Minimum Wage Deal

    in News

Let’s talk about the minimum wage and the XL Pipeline.  Or as my liberal friends call it – me being an elitist capitalist snob or as my conservative friends call me – a socialist Marxist bleeding heart.

I am for this deal in Congress.

    Here’s why.

Let’s talk about the minimum wage and the XL Pipeline.  Or as my liberal friends call it – me being an elitist capitalist snob or as my conservative friends call me – a socialist Marxist bleeding heart.

I am for this deal in Congress.

    Here’s why.

We need to lift the minimum wage to at least the poverty level.

But here’s what I also want.  We need a drop in corporate taxes.  We also need massive tax reform that would wipe out most tax deductions for businesses mainly the major corporations.

Passing XL in return also makes sense.  It will create more jobs.  It will keep Canadian energy dollars here in North American without letting China get a stronger foothold.  It will hopefully keep energy prices down that are going to soar thanks to Russia and the Ukraine situation.

Does XL pose a risk?  Absolutely.  But here’s the trade off I am willing to make I the short run.  I want the US to have more economic control over the world’s energy – not Russia and China.  I want the US to fight this way and not with troops on the ground.

Will this deal happen in Congress?

No, there are too many special interest groups bribing – my term – our elected and soon to be elected members of Congress.  It won’t happen.

    But it should.

Give me your thoughts on my capital elitist socialist views.
