    in Writing

The Brightest Day: A Juneteenth Historical Romance Anthology

    Amazing Grace, by Lena Hart:
It’s the year 1866—the Civil War is over and slavery has ended. Life for 18-year-old Gracie Shaw takes an unexpected turn when she is “encouraged” to marry a man sight-unseen. Boarded on a train headed West—to lawless territory—she is faced with misfortune at every turn and must accept the help of former Confederate soldier, Logan Finley, while denying herself the one thing she wants most. Him.
Drifting to You, by Kianna Alexander:
During the sultry Carolina summer of 1875, baker Rosaline Rhodes boards a Juneteenth cruise down the Cape Fear River. She's there to serve her famous cinnamon spice cake; shipbuilder Will Pruett is there for pleasure. They've denied their mutual attraction for months, but now the river won't be the only thing ebbing and flowing.
A Sweet Way to Freedom, by Piper Huguley:
In 1910, schoolteacher Missouri Baxter refuses to return home with a big belly and no husband. She’s got nine months to teach juke joint owner Arlo Tucker—a most reluctant student—an important lesson about what marriage means to their people. With God on her side, she'll show him “A Sweet Way to Freedom.”
Let It Shine, by Alyssa Cole:
Sofronia Wallis knows that proper Black women don't court trouble by upending the status quo, and they most certainly don't associate with roughneck Jewish boxers like Ivan Friedman. But it’s 1961 and the Civil Rights movement is in full swing. Change—and love—are coming whether Sofie is ready or not.

Teaching Tolerance, Respect, and Compassion to Our Children with Amy Newmark

    in Moms and Family

Self-esteem, tolerance, good values – these are gifts that will last children a lifetime and help them become successful adults. You can’t be a success in life if you can’t get along with other people — at home, at school, and at play. The values that young adults learn today will stay with them for the rest of their lives and help them become the best adults they can be.

Dr. Milton Boniuk created The Boniuk Foundation to promote compassion, tolerance, and respect. He and his wife Laurie funded The Boniuk Institute for the Study and Advancement of Religious Tolerance at Rice University, with the mission of promoting research, education, outreach, and better parenting to foster religious tolerance.

Join Amy Newmark, the publisher and editor-in-chief for Chicken Soup and me on Tuesday, June 23, 10-11 A.M. CT US  as we discuss their partnership with The Boniuk Foundation, and their use of the power of storytelling to inspire and teach kids how to be role models — exhibiting qualities of tolerance, acceptance and self-esteem, and making good decisions.

    LADY VONCILE BELCHER

“The Voice that Rejuvenates Traditional Gospel Music"

Born in the small town of Ozark, Alabama, she enjoyed singing for her family where she hails from a strong religious background; her father being a noted Minister while her mother was a well-respected Missionary, both gave deep Gospel roots to her yearning to sing. Today, her love for Gospel Music has awarded her many opportunities to minister in song and has led Lady Voncile Belcher to pursue her fourth solo project.

In 1985, she relocated to Atlanta, Georgia as she continued in her music career. While in the music studio one day she met a man that would change the course of her life in music; the Rev. Milton Biggham, then the President of Savoy Records, who gave her a small piece of paper with three lines that said " Look Where He Brought Me From “.
Continuing in faith with her writing and singing music career, she released her first solo album entitled ‘Be Strong, Her second project ‘What a Time’ and her release along with Low Rush Music entitled “Kourageous ".

Under her own formed label Glory Bound Records and working with Producers Tim Fryar and Rodney Edge and New Me Productions, her single releases of the songs "ALRIGHT” and “I’LL STAND” (which features the Rev.R.L. Bush) are now being played on the radio stations in the U.S. and International markets.

Now in 2015, the highly anticipated full CD release of her fourth solo project entitled

" U R Phenomenal " is expected to make an industry impact as you hear a fresh, new, and innovative Lady Voncile Belcher.
