Milestones: Does Your Child Measure Up?

    in Moms and Family

Tonight on "It's Real Talk Radio", Miss Behave & Jay Styles come together for a second time to collaborate on another motherhood show. The first was successful so of course this was inevitable. The topic of discussion is Milestones and the question is: "Does your child measure up?"

When you have children, you will find that there is a universal guideline for what milestones your child should be hitting. For instance, at 6 months old, normally your child is ready for solids. We all know that every child is unique & develops differently, but sometimes our expectations are set a little high for an infant or toddler while other times expectations tend to be set too high, so it's all about the proper balance to save you and your child a lot of headaches.

Tonight Miss Behave & Jay Styles will be breaking it all down so make sure you don't miss out and if you have a question or comment you'd like to share, feel free to call in. The Call-in # is 347-838-9540 just remember to press 1 if you want to be brought on air.

    Fixing American Government

    in Politics Progressive

Interview with Jerrery Orenstein, Ph.D.author "Fixing American Government"  published January, 2015.
American government is broken. There is gridlock in Washington and in many state capitals and voters are apathetic and angry. Democracy is under siege by the corrupting influence of money in politics and by those who put ideological purity ahead of good public policy. How did this happen? What can we do about it?Fixing American Government is one political scientist-turned-journalist’s answer. It analyzes the roots of the problem and prescribes remedies that are practical and consistent with American political culture and traditions. It is a must-read for political activists of any stripe, citizens who care about our political system and those who want to see American government work again.

As we look at our nation at Valentine’s Day, 2105, we observe that today’s United States of America has evolved to be far more democratic than it was in 1787, with the enfranchisement of women, the abolition of property qualifications for voting and the direct election of the Senate as democratic milestones. There is clear and present evidence that this partial democratic evolution has been a major factor in the nation’s greatness and appeal.

Precisely because the elements of democracy that we do possess in our political system has stood us in such good stead, we should continue our evolution toward perfecting our system of government by becoming even more democratic than we are. We need to eliminate malapportionment, equalize the voices of those who are not billionaires and think long and hard about the meaning of the term general election, for starters.

Dr. Travis Stork from The Doctors talks about Life Lessons and BIG DAY prep

    in Lifestyle

WHEN YOU PREPARE THE NIGHT BEFORE A BIG DAY YOU SET YOURSELF FOR A BETTER TOMORROW.  MANY PEOPLE SET OUT GYM BAGS, PACK LUNCHES, PLAN THEIR OUTFITS, BUT DON’T THINK AHEAD ABOUT BREAKFAST.  HERE WITH US TODAY IS DR. TRAVIS STORK, HOST OF THE AWARD-WINNING TALK SHOW, THE DOCTORS.

    1.    CAN YOU SHARE SOME OTHER SIMPLE TIPS ON HOW YOU PREPARE FOR SUCCESSFUL DAY?

    2.    TELL US MORE ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF STARTING YOUR DAY WITH THE COMBINATION OF PROTEIN AND GRAINS?

    3.    WHAT ARE SOME OTHER INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF STARTING YOUR DAY WITH BREAKFAST?

    4.    WHERE CAN WE GET MORE ADVICE ON PREPARING FOR A BIG DAY?

Dr. Travis Stork is a huge proponent of preparing the night before not only a big day, but every day, and advises you to instill a nightly ritual to take the stress off morning decisions like what to wear and what to eat to keep the focus on what’s ahead. He also shares the importance of starting any day with a nutritious breakfast full of protein and grains, like Kellogg’s cereal and milk*. A bowl of cereal and milk* can provide at least 8 grams of protein, making it the easy choice that’s nutritious and tasty.

Dancing on stage for the first time, gearing up for a presentation at work, or preparing for an important moment at school are all major milestones for you and your family. A little preparation can go a long way in getting ready for the big day, and setting your family up for success.

Experts say when you prepare the night before, you set yourself up for a better tomorrow. Thinking about breakfast should be part of planning ahead, because breakfast can provide you with the nutrients you need to have a successful day.
