Tonight we are lucky to host not ONE,not TWO, but three Thriller/Suspense/Action authors!
Joseph Max Lewis starts the show off, hands the show off to Mike Bond & then Joe Goldberg takes us home!
Joseph Max Lewis ( www.josephmaxlewis.com ) served as a member of an Operational Detachment in the U.S. Army's Seventh Special Forces Group, the storied Green Berets. During his service Lewis received antiterrorist training and his detachment was tasked to "Special Projects." Afterward, he served as an instructor at the Special Forces Qualification Course. Lewis attended the Pennsylvania State University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, the University of Tel Aviv in Israel, and the University of Pittsburgh, receiving degrees in International Politics and Law while being certified in Middle East Studies.

Joe Goldberg is a former CIA officer who worked for eight years in covert action, information collection, and analysis. During those years, he earned a Meritorious Unit Citation and three Performance Awards. A recipient of numerous other prestigious awards over his thirty years of working in intelligence, Goldberg is a published author and frequent speaker on intelligence subjects.
He has worked over 20 years in corporate competitive intelligence and as an international political consultant.
It is a welcome back to author Mike Bond to a Book and a Chat.
MIKE BOND has been called the “master of the existential thriller” by the BBC and “one of the 21st century’s most exciting authors” by the Washington Times. He is a bestselling novelist, environmental activist, international energy expert, war and human rights correspondent and award-winning poet who has lived and worked in many remote, dangerous parts of the world. His critically acclaimed novels depict the innate hunger of the human heart for what is good, the intense joys of love, the terror and fury of battle, the sinister vagaries of international politics and multinational corporations, and the beauty of the vanishing natural world.
he will be with us to chat about his latest book THE LAST SAVANNA which is based on his real-life experiences helping to fight elephant poachers in Africa.
My guest on today's show is Mike Bond, bestselling author, advisor to the US and foreign governments, human rights and war correspondent, award-winning poet and international energy expert. Mike has lived and worked in over thirty countries on six continents.
His works have been translated into many languages and have been praised by critics on both sides of the Atlantic for their intricate plots, fascinating characters, extraordinary settings, and explosive pace.
Amongst other things we will be chatting about his latest book, his Aloha State thriller, SAVING PARADISE
The Battle of Beirut is worse than Hell, an irrational maelstrom of implacable hatreds and inconceivable suffering, of screaming bombs and exploding shells, crashing buildings, sniper battles, and deadly ambushes. Neill, a war correspondent on a secret mission for Britain’s MI6 intelligence agency, is trying to find Mohammed, a Hezbollah terrorist leader who may be willing to stop the slaughter and destruction.
André, a French commando, is also looking for Mohammed, to kill him in revenge for the death of his brother, blown up with over 400 US Marines and French paratroopers by Hezbollah. For Rosa, a remorseless and passionate Palestinian guerrilla, Mohammed is one of the few hopes left for her people, and she will give her life to protect him. And for lovely Anne-Marie, André is the only one who can rescue her from Hell.
Based on Bond’s own experiences in Lebanon, Syria and the Middle East, Holy War has been praised for its portrayal of battle and its journalistic and political realism, and for its evocative descriptions of men and women caught in a deadly crossfire.
Mike Bond writes socially-conscious thrillers inspired by his real-life experiences. His Aloha State thriller, SAVING PARADISE (Mandevilla Press) played a role in stopping the Big Wind and the Inter-island Cable Project in Hawaii. This project would have destroyed major parts of Molokai, Lanai and Maui. In addition to drastic environmental and social effects on all three islands, it would have had a catastrophic impact on whales, dolphins and other ocean species including endangered monk seals and turtles.
Bond, a Maine native, has also been active in Maine environmental issues, creating http://savingmaine.org/ to raise awareness about the potential dangers industrial wind development might pose to Maine’s environment.

THE LAST SAVANNA:
With Africa’s last elephants dying under the guns of Somali poachers, ex-SAS officer Ian MacAdam leads a commando squad against them, to hunt what for him is the only decent prey – man. Pursuing the poachers through jungled mountains and searing deserts he battles thirst, solitude, terror and lethal animals, only to find they have kidnapped a young archaeologist, Rebecca Hecht, whom he once loved and bitterly lost.
She escapes the kidnappers, is caught and escapes again to risk perishing in the desert. MacAdam embarks on a desperate trek to save not only Rebecca but his own soul in an Africa torn apart by wars, overpopulation and the slaughter of its last wildlife.
Based on the author’s own experiences pursuing elephant poachers in the wilds of East Africa, The Last Savanna is an intense personal memoir of humanity’s ancient heartland, its people and animals, the lonely beauty of its perilous deserts, jungles, and savannas, and the deep, abiding power of love
In the latest thriller from Bond (The Last Savanna, 2013, etc.), an Afghanistan War veteran–turned-surfer risks his life and freedom to search for a journalist’s murderer.
When Pono Hawkins finds surfing-magazine correspondent Sylvia Gordon’s lifeless body floating off the shore of Oahu, police quickly determine that she was murdered, but then promptly change their minds and rule it an accidental drowning. Pono makes it his mission to find the woman’s killer, and his quest takes him into a world of political and corporate corruption. As he weeds through lies, suspects and threats, the police eventually agree that the journalist was indeed murdered—and they accuse the twice-jailed Pono, who soon finds himself on the run. More murders follow.
Mike is a bestselling author and has been an adviser to the US and foreign governments, human rights and war correspondent, award-winning poet and international energy expert. Mike has lived and worked in over thirty countries on six continents. His works have been widely praised. The BBC has referred to him as the “master of the existential thriller” and Publishers Weekly praised him as a writer of “deft thrillers”. Bond bases his works on his own experiences in war zones, revolutions, and dangerous regions in many foreign countries during his years as a journalist.
Mike’s latest novel is Saving Paradise. Set in Hawaii, where wind companies and conniving politicians are now attempting to cover huge parts of the State’s two most beautiful islands with a $16 billion scam called Big Wind and the Interisland Cable, SAVING PARADISE is changing people’s minds about industrial windpower. It tells the story of Pono Hawkins, a well-known surfer and former Special Forces Afghanistan veteran who gets caught up in the murder a beautiful Honolulu reporter.
