LOTL The Comfort Zone Presents Miguel Migs. New Album ' Dim Division '

    in Music

    ALBUM INFO
Miguel Migs is one of the most respected DJs, producers and label owners in house music; an artist whose influence on the current musical landscape cannot be overlooked. Migs personifies the soul-driven vibe of both the Naked Music and Salted Music Label projects in which he has been involved and, hailing from San Francisco himself, has been influential in cultivating and pioneering the famed ‘West Coast scene’.

Combining the best of the electronic music world with live instrumentation, he has carved out a deep, soulful niche, which carries with him the undying respect of his peers.

Rather than simply packing it full of club-ready tracks, with Dim Division Migs has created an album more focused on the listening experience. Throughout his multi-faceted career, Migs has always created a wide variety of music. Dim Division focuses on the songs, with intimate songwriting and vibrant yet subtle production taking precedent over peak-time dancefloor appeal.

Dim Division is a collection of house and downtempo gems that exemplify the very best aspects of Migs’ production aesthetic: fresh, buoyant and deeply soulful music that lifts the spirit, from the languorous chords of opener ‘I Can Feel It’, through the neon-flecked bounce of ‘Just Fade Away’ to the infectious groove of ‘Heartbeat’.
On Dim Division, Migs has also collaborated with an impressive international selection of artists including the multifaceted Meshell Ndegeocello, UK soul singer Omar, long-time collaborator Lisa Shaw, Andy Allo (who toured with Prince on guitar/vocals) and many more all making remarkable additions to the album.

Military Monday with John D. Gresham With Author Bill Yenne – AREA 51 BLACK JETS

    in Military

Few places in American popular culture draw more interest and public speculation than the clandestine flight test facility at Groom Lake Air Force Base, Nevada. Located in the remote desert test range of the Department of Energy, the facility is gone by many names since it was selected by Lockheed, CIA, and the U.S. Air Force in the mid-1950s. "Dreamland," "The Ranch," "Watertown Strip," and of course, "Area 51." In the six decades it has been operational, Area 51 passing the first flights and testing of some of the world's most advanced and exotic aircraft in history. Initially, this meant the facility was used to test CIA U-2 spy planes, as well as training the first cadres of pilots. Within 15 years however, Groom Lake was home to programs like the Lockheed A-12/SR-71 Blackbird, along with the testing of foreign military aircraft "types," such as Russian MiG fighters. Later came testing of prototypes like the HAVE BLUE, leading to the development of the F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter. And since then, a wide variety of test/development/prototype testing has gone on both at Groom Lake, as well as the nearby Tonopah Test Range airfield.

To learn more about Area 51 and the amazing aircraft that have been tested there, join military historian, author and journalist John D. Gresham (@greshamj01) for Military Monday at 1 p.m. Eastern. His guest this week will be Zenith Press (@Zenith_Press) author and historian Bill Yenne. Bill is the writer of AREA 51 BLACK JETS, an illustrated history of the Groom Lake facilities, and the amazing aircraft that have flown there during the past six decades. They will also discuss the popular culture mythology and legends associated with Area 51, and the intriguing economy that has grown around operations there. Listeners are also encouraged to call in, ask questions, and offer opinions.

    DISORDERLY CONDUCT - Manic Monday

    in Current Events

Tonight Vince is joined by prison support activists Sue Crabtree (@Free_Hammond) and @allshiny (Suicide Girls) to discuss the status of imprisoned activists Jeremy "Anarchaos" Hammond of #AntiSec and Mark "Migs" Neiweem of the NATO 5.     A letter campaign is underway to provide letters of support for Jeremy Hammond prior to his sentencing on November 15th. Hammond has accepted a plea deal with a statutory maximum of 10 years.   As part of his plea deal, Hammond admitted his role in eight hacks beyond the one count of violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. These admissions will be used by the federal government to add points to his offense level and increase his sentence.   The campaign seeks to send the court letters asking for leniency. Letters must be mailed or faxed so they arrive by October 15th.   Meanwhile, Mark "Migs" Neiweem is an activist currently serving time in Cook County jail after pleading guilty to attempting to purchase materials to make a pipe bomb around the time of the NATO summit in Chicago.   Migs is set to be released in a few months after recently being put in solitary confinement for nearly two months for possession of Anarchist symbols.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT - Prison Support & OpPenPal

    in Current Events

Tonight Vince is joined by activist and Suicide Girl Rachel Allshiny to talk about her work doing prison support and helping Mark Neiweem, also known as Migs, of the NATO 5. Quick refresher: five activists were arrested days before the NATO summit in Chicago last year and subsequently charged with terrorism. Three remain incarcerated at Cook County Jail, awaiting trial. One accepted a non-cooperating plea agreement and served a sentence of four months in a boot camp for non-violent offenders. He was recently repatriated to his native Poland. The fifth is Mark, who also accepted a non-cooperating plea and is serving two concurrent three-year sentences. With credit for time served and time off for good behavior, he expects parole in November. You can read his comments on his decision to change his plea and his grim experience at Cook County Jail here.
