Everybody’s been talking about “Fifty Shades of Gray” the notorious book soon to be movie, telling the story of a young girl experimenting with sexuality with a gorgeous, rich sadist. So is it just a good fantasy, or is it something darker?
A recent study by some Michigan State University researchers found that young women who are fans of the book are more likely to be prone to eating disorders, binge drinking and multiple sexual partners, than young women who have not read the books. They are also more likely to have a verbally abusive partner.
Coincidence? Maybe, but we’ll learn more Saturday when we talk with Amy Bonomi, PhD, Professor and Chair of the Human Development and Family Studies Department at Michigan State University. Dr. Bonomi’s research focuses on the long-term health effects of domestic violence, dating violence, and child abuse, and the intimacy dynamics/processes that keep violent relationships intact. Dr. Bonomi and her colleagues analyzed abuse and harmed identity in the national bestseller, Fifty Shades of Grey, using the U.S. Centers for Disease Control’s definitions of intimate partner violence. She is an associate editor at the Journal of Women’s Health and BMC Public Health, and is the recipient of the Distinguished Scholar Award from the College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University.
Join us Saturday at 11 am Pacific Time to learn more about “Fifty Shades of Gray.

Some people say that all relationships, marriage, and love are “Hard Work,” but the work you put in can be rewarding when it’s done right. Others say that love, relationships, and marriage would never be labeled as “Hard Work” if people actually entered into these for the long haul, meaning that you’re signing up to stick together through good times and bad times so when the bad times come you don’t complain or bail. But, how you label the “Work” you put into relationships may have more to do with the person you’re with and how compatible the two of you are when it comes to problem solving, respect, and admiration, etc. Then again, maybe part of the “Hard Work” is less about the partnership and more about resolving issues of each individual so both people can heal, i.e. finding your collective cohesiveness.
Everyone enters relationships wounded in some way and the “Hard Work” may be humbling yourself to admit to flaws and do the “Work” to tackle difficult issues and challenges, making yourself a better partner for your mate. From this perspective, the "Hard Work” you do on yourself, benefits your mate and your relationship in a deeper sense. These are just a few ideas and We Want to Hear From You about how you find your relationships, marriage, and love to be “Hard Work,” if you do find them to be “Hard Work”?

An annual Chicago event coming up at the end of August (August 25 to August 27) is the answer that many franchisors are looking for. Three years ago, a business-powerhouse saw a problem and did something about it by creating the Franchise Capital Exchange (FCX). Franchise Capital Exchange is the only event of its kind where franchisors present their business opportunities to potential investors in an effort to secure capital to fuel their future.
This event is a one-stop-shop where brands and capital partners come together and can pitch themselves to multiple parties. The event allows for cost and time efficiencies as well as encourages networking and learning opportunities.
The brain behind this revolutionary idea is that of Susan Black-Beth, Chief Operating Officer for Super Wash, Inc., who was literally born into the business world. Susan comes from a family of entrepreneurs and grew up in a family business and started working when she was 4 years old.
Susan bought her first business (Super Wash rehab) when she was 19 yrs old
Susan was a multi-unit franchisee for 9 years
She started a professional speaking business in 2010 (33 yrs old)
She started Franchise Capital Exchange (originally known as "Dealmakers' Summit) in 2012 (35 yrs old)
Overall, Susan started 3 companies by the time she was 35
In segment 2, you will hear Marty McDermott, the President of Franchise Interviews, on WVOX radio discussing franchising and branding.
Study of God with Thomas Abdul-Salaam
Study of God with Thomas Abdul-Salaam aka Twin Servant of Peace takes you through the thought process of inquiry into the exsitence of God. Its main question is "Who is He? And What is He to You? Thomas use the revealed books as the textbooks, Bible and Quran, mostly. The goal is to see if we can better understand, conceptualize, and definite God from His own words (revelation). We will explore the evidence of His existence, Oneness, attributes, and signs. Where is God? How is He God? What is the knowledge of God? Does God have partners, parents, or children? Who are the messengers to God? And so many other questions. Join us every Friday morning.
We hope all who join us on this radio program will find support, acceptance, connections and validation in whatever form it comes. Our vision for this program is that it be a meeting place for women on the path, (any path, hopefully we will all go to the same place). That we embrace one another in a non-judgmental and nurturing way. In the tradition of the Native American culture of the Moon Lodge we gather, uplift and highlight each other so that we can be connected in our journey and find more purpose, joy and love in our lives. To live authentically, healthy and empowered.

ENVISION THIS: Water managed locally for the good of the community, not diverted for corporate profit and big agribusiness
Our guest, Judith Jubb, represents METEMPYRION FOUNDATION, a nonprofit philanthropy sharing ideas about cooperation with the environment. "For over 20 years many of our programs have extended to the greater community. The Board elected to look into a request from a Water Clan member of the Hopi People in northern Arizona in2005. The regional draught has continued into the present and water is no longer available to plant food for people or raise livestock. This is our first venture into locating a subterranean water source adequate for a large group of people.
For the Hopi Well Project, we have relied on experts in the fields of locating and drilling water wells. The project evolved into the most complex and time consuming project we have ever endeavored. The role of Metempyrion has been as Cultural Liaison and Fundraiser. A professional water dowser took up the position of HWP Chairman and coordinated his partners with local drillers and water dowsers familiar with Arizona ecology. Many volunteers have come forward with skills and time for which we are very grateful. We wish to thank our funders and workers for your investment and interest in this shared vision. This project can not be completed without your support. There is always more to do to make a better world for everyone."
