The R&B royalty, who made her name as a member of the mega-selling girl group Desinty’s Child, recalls expanding her creative chops to include theater. “The opportunity first presented itself to me in 2003, to be on Broadway and do Aida. The closest to Broadway I thought I’d ever get is if I happened to fly into New York and walk down the Broadway strip,” Michelle Williams tells The Mutha Knows Show host Mutha. “I never dreamed I’d have my name in lights and on a big marquee. From that I got interested in doing more shows. Then The Color Purple came my way, and Chicago: The Musical, in London and on Broadway. Now I love acting. It’s a different form of expression. And it lets people know the different facets of me: Not only is she a singer, but she’s an actress. A Broadway actress.”
