In this chapter of the bible, king Ahab calls for a group of prophets to ask them if he should go to war against Ramoth-Gilead, the prophets tell him what he wants to hear which is to go to war. Contrary to this group of mainline prophets, Micaiah the true prophet of God tells him not to go to war and also tells him that he will die if he does. This story goes to show that false prophets are many, and God's prophets are few; and most people love to have their ears tickled instead of hearing the truth.

The prophetic passage of Scripture that we are looking at today is 1 Kings 22:13-14 which reads: "And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good. And Micaiah said, As the Lord liveth, what the Lord saith unto me, that will I speak."
Our second coming quote for today is from Matthew Henry. He said: "Christ will come when he pleases, to show his sovereignty, and will not let us know when, to teach us our duty."

19 Then Micaiah said, “Therefore hear the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing by, on His right hand and on His left. 20 And the Lord said, ‘Who will persuade Ahab to go up, that he may fall at Ramoth Gilead?’ So one spoke in this manner, and another spoke in that manner. 21 Then a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord, and said, ‘I will persuade him.’ 22 The Lord said to him, ‘In what way?’ So he said, ‘I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And the Lord said, ‘You shall persuade him, and also prevail. Go out and do so.’23 Therefore look! The Lord has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these prophets of yours, and the Lord has declared disaster against you.”

Deuteronomy 18:15-22 makes it clear that a true prophet was always called by God, spoke for God, received authority from God, and his or her prophecy always came to pass. God's message sometimes came to a prophet in a vision and was delivered to the people by means of preaching, parables, or poetry. A prophet must be thoroughly persuaded that the messages were indeed from God. Prophets were often persecuted because of the bad news they delivered. Micaiah, who lived during the same period as Elijah, also confronted King Ahab with bad news that Ahab's reign as king of Israel was about to end with his death.
Heed God's Warnings - Some people believe that the thing they're being warned about won't happen if they don't believe it. King Ahab rode off to his death because he disregarded the Word of the Lord through His prophet, Micaiah. King Ahab and King Jehoshaphat conspired together to attack Ramoth-Gilead. But before waging war, the kings sought the Lord's advice through prophets. All 400 of King Ahab's false prophets told him the Lord would grant victory in battle. When Micaiah was called, at first he told Ahab what he wanted to hear. But when pushed, the prohet told Ahab that he would die in battle. Ahab didn't listen to God's warning and went anyway. The king died from an arrow wound and dogs licked the blood from his chariot.
The Lord Tells Us Things for Our Good but it won't be of any benefit if you don't act on the instruction the Lord gives.
