Kevin Stewart Jr. Contemporary Gospel artist and songwriter
Hard Work, Love, and Sacrifice
With always having a desirable passion to be an independent artist, Kevin Stewart Jr. has put a lot of hard work in serving other artists and ministries a like. While sacrificing his time to support others musically, he’s now ready to venture out and stand on his own. With the release of his first single, Yes dropping July 23, the platform has provided itself for him to be heard.
Kevin developed his unique style from a lifetime of musical influence. Growing up in a talented musical family, serving in his church’s music ministry, and attending a performing arts school, all kept him surrounded by different forms of music. He was granted the opportunity to become a mentee to Dorinda Clark Cole. He also assisted with background vocals for a plethora of well renowned gospel artists such as LeAndria Johnson, Karen Clark Sheard, and Ernest Pugh. With much exposure from these experiences, Kevin became compelled to start working on his first single that would be released to the public.
His highly anticipated single, Yes, from Kevin was released July 23, 2013 and now Kevin has available for the first time an Ep. called Yes that was released August 5, 2014.

Today our guest is Ele Parrott who has authored a best selling book called Transforming Together: Authentic Spiritual Mentoring
Young women are crying out for someone older to care about them, to help them. Older women desire to be useful and productive. Those who have invested years of walking with the Lord themselves desire to be teamed up with this generation of younger women who are yearning for someone to show them how to walk through life with genuine faith in Christ.
Transforming Together presents the model for genuine spiritual mentoring through the power and work of Christ in the lives of women faithfully pouring into one another. Women, both young and old, will appreciate the dual focus on the roles of mentor and mentee. Building on real life testimonies and her experience as a committed mentor, Ele Parrott will guide women as they seek to walk with one another to greater faithfulness in Christ.
We believe in teaching character that develops into a role models, leadership, integrity, sportsmanship, and encouragement. Our coaches lead as examples as a prime source. We encourage our coaches and players to have a mentor/mentee relationship to be a source of education and leadership. We demonstrate this by hosting several charite events and opportunities to give back to the community throughout the year that we encourage all campers to be involved with. Observance and enforcement of our core policy is what sets us apart from many other leagues and organizations. Our coaches model it, our players show it, and our parents inspire it.
Leshundra Robinson co-founded UCAN of Memphis in 2005 & became president in 2006. She also manages the mentee referrals from parents, physicians, medical clinics and Memphis City Schools while serving as a mentor herself. UCAN currently mentors 20 young ladies ages 12-18 primarily in North Memphis.
Leshundra grew up in North Memphis under the guidance of her grandmother, and later moved to the Whitehaven area where she graduated in the Top 10 percent of her class at Hillcrest High School. A mother of three, Leshundra has spent 21 years guiding young lives, which has motivated her to reach out to others who are in the vulnerable teen years. Her own children embrace her energy and ambitious determination. Leshundra wants teens to live a “purposeful life” and to understand that one’s environment does not make a person. Rather, a person can positively influence his or her own environment while reaching beyond neighborhood boundaries. Leshundra’s brother committed suicide in 2011 due to what he felt his environment did not accept him. He felt lonely and hurt which became a long term depression until he was 27 years young. Since his death, Leshundra has started an anti-bully play that helps other teens understand everyone is different and unique, STAND UP and SPEAK OUT against bullying.
Leshundra is Six Sigma Greenbelt certified and a graduate of Mid-South Peace and Justice Center’s Grassroots Organizers for Power. She is a member of the Alliance for Nonprofit Excellence and Memphis Urban League Young Professionals. She was recently nominated for a NEXUS award for Mentoring Organization/Nonprofit in the same category as Leadership Memphis and Memphis Grizzles.

Today we hear so much about domestic abuse and domestic violence in relationships of all ages. You may ask the question, of whether you can help or make a difference? Yes, you can.
There are so many benefits in mentoring, it not only help you mentee but actually benefit you the mentor as well.
Join us on Angels In Distress Radio as we share the benefits of mentoring someone that may be exposed or funtioning in a dysfunctional environment.
January is National Mentoring Month. To celebrate the importance of mentorship WIA-Canada is collaborating with Ryerson University to bring together students pursuing careers in aerospace with women already in the field. This is a time for Mentors and Mentees to come together and share resources. While it’s a women 217;s organization, men are always welcome.
Mentoring can be challenging for a number of reasons – time commitment, compatibility between mentee and mentor, poorly defined expectations, lack of or too much structure, suitable location, etc. Speed mentoring (similar to speed dating) allows for maximized exposure to several individuals in an informal but guided session that is conducive to asking questions, soliciting advice and exploring opportunities – no strings attached!
The success of this program will depend heavily on mentor volunteers. If you are interested in coming, to meet future generations of women in aerospace, to share your personal experiences and to help guide a student please register today.
