Enriching Young Lives Through Coaching and Mentoring

    in Youth

Vicki Wright, founder and executive director of Transitions Mentoring Ministry is our guest today. Growing up on a farm with plenty of opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and sports, she found herself majoring in physical education which led to a Masters degree in physical education with an emphasis in administration. After graduating, she became a high school teacher coaching gymnastics, cheerleading, and volley ball.

After teaching school, Vicki became the President and owner of Tumble Tots, Inc., a mobile pre-school gymnastics program. Continuing with her passion for the sport of gymnastics, Vicki also coached at Ball State University, North Central High School, Miss Juanita’s Apple Juice Kids Child Care, Jireh Sports Urban Minstry, and Charles A. Tindley Accelerated High School.

Many participants in the Transitions Mentoring program were coached by Vicki as young gymnasts. One of Transitions' success "secrets" is that it employs the combination of discipleship tools and mentor-mentee accountability. With a passion for serving the Lord mixed with a passion for serving young people, watching them sprout and grow, Transitions Ministry is the perfect platform for all of this and more to happen.

Invite someone you know, a young adult or even someone older, to join you and listen in. Vicki will be taking calls with questions and comments at (646) 716-8344.

The Importance of Having a Great Mentor

    in Motivation

Ask any successful person in life and he/she will tell you they have a mentor who they follow, listen to, seek advice, etc. For some of us, that person could be a parent or a family member. But what if we are not so fortunate to have that person in our life? What if the people in your immediate circle aren't necessarily living the life or following the path that you envisioned for yourself? If you are the smartest and/or most successful person in your inner circle, you definitely need to broaden your sphere of influence. We are going to discuss why everyone should have a mentor in different areas of their life, how to recognize a mentor and what part you should play in the mentor/mentee relationship.

POWER UP's "Die, Angelo, Die" to Film in Palm Springs

    in Movies

"Die, Angelo, Die", the 16th film (and a feature at that!) from the non-profit LGBTQ production company, POWER UP, will be filmed in Palm Springs says the organization's founder and recent transplant to the city, Stacy Codikow.  "The city itself is alive and a beautiful place for sex, romance and intrigue," stated Codikow. "It lends itself to be captured in all its glory and we will do that with the support of local residents."

"Die Angelo, Die," is a Hollywood film noir thriller about revenge, redemption and what remains. What do you do when Hollywood director Angelo Anderson steals your film? The only thing you can do: write a screenplay about it and get revenge! The film will shoot in Los Angeles and Palm Springs, California. It's a sexy, exciting film in which the city of Palm Springs is a vital character.  Residents can get involved and support the mission of POWER UP by visiting the Indiegogo page on or before November 15th, 2014.

Introducing Artist and Writer Kevin Stewart

    in Music

Kevin Stewart Jr. Contemporary Gospel artist and songwriter

    Hard Work, Love, and Sacrifice

With always having a desirable passion to be an independent artist, Kevin Stewart Jr. has put a lot of hard work in serving other artists and ministries a like. While sacrificing his time to support others musically, he’s now ready to venture out and stand on his own. With the release of his first single, Yes dropping July 23, the platform has provided itself for him to be heard.

Kevin developed his unique style from a lifetime of musical influence. Growing up in a talented musical family, serving in his church’s music ministry, and attending a performing arts school, all kept him surrounded by different forms of music. This is where his musical tastes and interests became known which opened the door to various music opportunities shaping his craft as a creative vocalist.

He was granted the opportunity to become a mentee to  Dorinda Clark Cole. He also assisted with background vocals for a plethora of well renowned gospel artists such as LeAndria Johnson, Karen Clark Sheard, and Ernest Pugh. With much exposure from these experiences, Kevin became compelled to start working on his first single that would be released to the public.

His highly anticipated single, Yes, from Kevin was released July 23, 2013 and now Kevin has available for the first time an Ep. called Yes that was released August 5, 2014.
Kevin’s motivation behind the music is to empower and to bring a sense of hope to a nation that is facing adversity daily.
