Our bravest, our strongest, those who defend our country and give us the freedoms that we sometimes take for granted, are the same people who find themselves surrounded by stigma when they seek help for the mental health issues caused in the line of duty. The fact that stigma exists for active military and veterans when they seek help is no secret. That’s why changes are being made. On today’s episode of Changing Direction, Michele welcomes Kim Dennis, MD, CEDS, Medical Director and CEO, of Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center. Kim will discuss the greatest areas of stigma in the military, eating disorders and sexual trauma, as well as combat PTSD. Dr. Dennis will also address what is being done to reduce the negative perceptions that exist and create a more welcoming environment for our military and veterans so they can seek help, comfortably. Michele’s shows combine scientific research, cutting-edge guests and personal stories that highlight the challenges and successes of deliberately deciding to change the direction of your life. The world is sick, and wherever the children of men dwell, suffering abounds. On every hand there is a seeking for relief.
It is not the Creator's purpose that mankind shall be weighed down with a burden of pain, that his activities shall be curtailed by illness, that his strength wane, and his life be cut short by disease. But all too frequently the laws established by God to govern the life are flagrantly transgressed; sin enters the heart, and man loses sight of his dependence upon God, the source of life and health. Then follow the penalties of transgression--pain, sickness, death.
To understand the physical laws governing the body and to bring the life practices into harmony with these laws is a duty of first importance. There is a need for an understanding of the many factors contributing to true happiness--a cheerful home, obedience to the laws of life, proper relationship to one's fellow men.
When sickness comes, it is essential that we employ the varied agencies which, in co-operation with nature's efforts, will build up the body and restore the health. There is, also, a larger and more vitally important question--that of our relationship to the Creator who originally gave man his life, who made every provision for his continued happiness, and who today is interested in his welfare.

Our children are gifts to us, Let's thank God for the gift that he has blessed us with. Mothers are nurturers, they are parents, partners, friends, teachers, they are givers. They are providers. A mother's responsibility begins at conceptions she has to mainain her health so that she can give birth to a healthy child and once the child gets here whether she breast feed or use the formula, she has to know that the child is feed, bathed, provided for and protected. Being a mother is a great responsibility. That is why it is so important to have God in our lives as mothers because it is hard to take on these responsibilites alone. Now, especially when you are single you will need God to be a husband for you. God says, in his word (Phil 4:19) that he will supply all of our needs according to his riches in glory. Let God be your provider. He says in his word he will never leave you nor forsake you. God will show you how to be a mother, we don't come her knowing how to mother, especally when you are a teen mother, you are so young that you don't have the experience. You will have to be taught, by mentors, books, etc, or sometime by trail and error, but more than anything you will know how to be a good mother through prayer and love for your child. Gain a relationship with your heavenly father through prayer, he will teach you how to love and care for your child. Seek God First. As in Matthew 6:33 tells us to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added to us. A mother is like God in the physical sense of the word, she is his hands, feet, mouth piece and more, that is why is is so important to celebrate mother's day, a day set aside just for her. She deserves it. Once a mother, always a mother.
