Tonight I am having a conversation with Hassan Perez a Teacher who is single and based in Miami, Florida.
Hassan is a Cuban, Muslim, he shared the following thoughts with me….
As per the theme we are going to discuss and explore I want to share with you Ebony some of my comments from a discussion a Muslim sister initiated with her connections on the book of faces today. She asked folks what their thoughts are on friendship as a key building block for marriage and the following is what I offered:
Many cases boil down to - here's that important concept again - INTENTION. Are you entering into a relationship to have someone to wait on you and serve you? Are you pursuing someone for sex? Or are you looking for a companion that you can share lives with, the tears and giggles, the labour and leisure, the highs and lows, the joy and pain, the warm sunlight and the pouring rain, the good and bad, the hopes and fears, the hopes and regrets as well as the innermost secrets? Those seeking to find and be in an intimate and blessed relationship with the best of friends work towards the latter and, subsequently, are not caught up in the former.
My questions are… Why do things sometimes get all weird when we change a friendship into a relationship? What’s your experience when dating friends? Do friends turn into great lovers, husbands or wives?

World Footprints was invited to attend the Girl Up Leadership Summit in Washington, DC. Girl Up is an innovative campaign of the United Nations Foundation that gives American girls the opportunity to become global leaders and channel their energy and compassion to raise awareness and funds for United Nations programs that help some of the world’s hardest-to-reach adolescent girls.
We are pleased to share highlights from this first Girl Up Leadership Summit which included remarks from actress Monique Coleman from High School Musical; Sarah Hurwitz, Speechwriter for President Obama; and moments between Girl Up teen advisors and young girls from the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa.

Jimmy was first to enter the sports-entertainment world, debuting in 1964 after training with fellow Hall of Famer Verne Gagne. Johnny followed soon after in 1967, and together they won several regional tag team championships. The Valiants entered WWE in the early 1970s, and at times they seemed unbeatable. Together, the pair captured the World Tag Team Championship in 1974 and held them for just over a year. Later, a third brother, "Gentleman" Jerry, joined them, teaming with Johnny to once again win the World Tag Team Championship in 1979. The Valiants were just one of the dozen tag teams that fellow 1996 Hall of Fame inductee Captain Lou Albano guided to the World Tag Team Championship in his career.
Jimmy is also an accomplished author of his own Autobiography entitled, "WOO....MERCY DADDY! Welcome to my world the Jimmy Valiant story. We talk about his storied career in wrestling and what he is up to today
